It's pretty decadent for anything I'd have eaten growing up. The closest thing I can come up with is sweet 'n' sour chicken at the Hong Kong restaurant we loved to go to. It's called The Blue Bayou. It currently serves the Monte Christo only at lunch, get ressies if you're planning on visiting Disneyland. But it is by far the best MC I've ever had anywhere (and I've tried quite a few). I'm sure the ambience has something to do with it (perched alongside the Bayou on the Pirates of The Caribbean attraction), but the sandwhich was delightful too. I usually recommended splitting it with a friend and trying a cup of the homemade clam chowder as a starter. If that didn't fill you up with energy for an afternoon of fun at Disneyland, nothing would. I live in Orlando, FL now and amazingly enough there is no good Monte Christo at Walt Disney World. Disneyland, mid-80's... there is a restaurant in the Bayou of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride! Maybe called The Bayou?!
