So if you are like me then you love going to warehouse clubs and getting the free samples. Well if you are near a Sam's Club you are in BIG luck this weekend. Big luck. Heck, even if you don't live that close to one, the drive might be worth it. This weekend, Novmeber 19th, 20th, and 21st from 11am to 6pm, Sam's Club will be hosting their annual Holiday Taste of Sam's Club Event. In which they will be featuring everything from appetizers, to main meals, to dessert will be featured. I was lucky enough that when I went to Arkansas in September to get to sample EVERYTHING that they were having in the clubs for the holiday season. Now I did not sample everything as this girl got full. But I did sample EVERY dessert. I'm surprised that I did not go into a sugar coma, but I didn't. :D The Cheesecake Factory® Red Velvet Cheesecake is worth the trip alone...I could have eaten the whole thing if they would have let me. In addition to the food, they will also be doing tree trimming … [Read more...]
Less than peachy…
So I have a special request and we will see how many people actually follow it. Please don’t email me until after the New Year. I am going through A LOT of tough personal things right now and combined with being back to working, I don’t have a ton of time to write and answer questions right now. Especially, when, no offense, over half of the questions are not specific to my blog and could be answered with a quick Google search. If I am sounding less than nice, I am. I am tired of getting emails where people are in the middle of making the recipe and can’t figure something out. And when I don’t respond to them right away because I am say…working (when you sub, you don’t have access to a computer) they freak out and send a chain of less than nice emails. This is not a single experience. It happens a ton (at least once a week in some manner). And I’m a little over it right now. So right now if you are unsure about a recipe, don’t make it. Save it until after the new … [Read more...]
How to get away with eating a tart for breakfast…
A friend of mine, who is always in the know when it comes to all things food, and if she doesn’t know she will find out for you, had a post up on Facebook. She made a comment about not ever hearing of a chef but that she should of because his stuff was awesome. So I asked who it was and she told me, Laurent Tourondel. I told her that I too, had never heard of this chef before. She told me I should and when Traca tells me I should, I listen. So before you know it she was getting me a copy of the latest book from the publisher (disclosure, I received this cookbook for free from publisher). When Fresh from the Market arrived at my door, I did what I do with all cookbooks, quickly skim through it. I could tell right away that this was a keeper. Now this is not a baking book, this is a seasonal menu book broken down into Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, but I of course found a dessert to highlight. I figured since it is Fall and all, I best feature a dessert from the Fall section. Which … [Read more...]
What Ales You…
The good news is that I finally injured myself doing something injury worthy. No more walking and breaking my foot crap or injuring it in Tai Chi. This time I stopped a slap shot instead. :D So at least it’s a cool injury. Albeit an injury that hurts like a &*)*&*#$%. I am currently sporting an awesome hairline fracture up by my big toe. Good news is that they didn’t cast it because it’s in a spot where it can’t move. And I can do whatever I want on it….including hockey (which I am not doing right now…get out of mom mode with the lecture you want to give). The bad news is that it hurts. But it’s an awesome shade of purple. Much beer has been consumed to help with the pain. :D This promptly reminded me that I had seen a recipe for ale and pretzel soft caramels a couple months back. I am not a candy maker. I have bought a ton of candy thermometer and that doesn’t seem to help me all that much either. Though I actually did well with these. I did put these in the … [Read more...]
