Have I got a Guy (Pie) for You…

Cue Beyoncé’s Single Ladies… So besides the “I’m so sorry to hear that” (which is usually said while tilting head to the side…I have no idea why), the second thing that seems to come out of everyone’s mouth is “have I got a guy for you”. Oh goodie. People who can’t pick out matching socks half the time (yes, I’m talking about guys on the hockey team) want to pick a guy for me to go out with, awesome. :) I’m getting to the point of avoiding going out to the bar after the hockey games because it usually goes “ah that’s too bad…Hey have you met (your name here), he’s from Canada and is also recently divorced”. And then the next thing you know I am listening to some guy go off about how his evil ex-wife is getting all the money and the house, etc… Good times. For the record, I am not bitter in the least about my ex. He is a good guy, so there is no reason to. I chose to focus on all the awesome things we had in our marriage and the ways it made me … [Read more...]

Peabody the Spider Slayer…

So one of the main reasons one gets married is so that you have a full time bug killer. I for one, fear spiders. Each time I move somewhere I make a loud announcement to the spiders of the apartment/house that I don’t care if they live there (as they kill other bugs) but that if I see them or they touch me, they are fair game to be dead. I realize I am mental. Anyway, since moving I have had to kill two spiders as well as some sort of beetle shaped bug. Now technically the beetle was already dead but still, the fact that I had to wad it up into a tissue is upsetting. Because at any time it could have taken on zombie form, come back to life, and tried to eat my hand off. Just saying. Now I could have done what I did and covered the spider with a glass when my ex would be gone and wait for it to die. But sadly these suckers have been in my tub. Waiting for me. Apparently my apartment if full of pervert spiders who just want to see me naked. ;) So if I wanted to bath, the spiders … [Read more...]

Sam’s Club making Holiday Desserts easy and fun…

Most everything is still in boxes and very unorganized sadly. Most of my bake ware is still packed up (I know, I know) yet I still get asked to go to parties and bring things. Ahhh. I had a party to go to and even though they told me not to bring anything, I got a call later telling me that their kids wanted to know what Peabody was bringing. Otherwise known as guilt. Ugh. So I turned to Sam’s Club to help me out. And though they have a ton of  beautiful desserts already to go, I kind of wanted to make something a little fun for the kiddos. The minute I saw the brownie bites over in the bakery I had an idea form in my head. Cheesecake Christmas Trees, and the brownie bites could be the bottom. Lucky for me Sam’s Club carries Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake in the frozen section. My Sam’s had both a plain (or original as they like to call it) and a pumpkin cheesecake. I picked both. ;) I also stopped by the baking section to pick up the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company Dipping … [Read more...]

The post I didn’t want to write…

Saying goodbye is never an easy thing (no the blog is not ending) and sadly there have been a lot of goodbyes in my life as of late. Today I baked my last loaf of bread in my beautiful kitchen. Now, I can come and bake bread in it if I so desire, but this was the last loaf baked in what would be considered my kitchen. And with a heavy heart I baked it. Rolling out my dough for the last time against my cool granite island made for a mixture of emotions. Happy to be baking bread, but mourning the loss of the kitchen that I loved to bake in. I’ve made many a wonderful baked good in that kitchen and it will be missed. In case you haven’t caught on, the picky eater and I are no longer. I’m not going into details, as though I know many people feel they know me because of my blog, let us remember that we don’t really know me (well except for those who stalk me :P ). We are still friends (I know people say that, but really we are, heck, we are going out to eat together on Saturday). … [Read more...]
