The first year we moved to Washington State I just would be in the car looking up at the lush green trees and I just kept waiting for someone to tell me that my vacation was over and that it was time to go back to Phoenix. While some may complain about the rain, I usually embrace it (though now that I am growing a home farm this summer, I am hoping for a little more sun than what I usually do). Without the rain, we wouldn’t be the Emerald city. We would be the brown sky, brown ground that I moved away from. Since we do get so much rain, it’s almost a celebration each time the sun comes out. I often tell people who complain that if they sun was out all the time around here, number one; no one would get anything done. And number two; it wouldn’t be nearly as special as everyone treats it around here. To me the sun is just the sun but to others it seems like a beacon of hope some days. Friday and Saturday were like that. I missed out on Friday as I was playing a little playoff … [Read more...]
Time is on my side…
Yeah, I know, Rice Krispie Treats again…but come on, look at them, how could I not? Plus I am addressing the “I never have time to cook”. Which I call BS on. I think if you like to do anything; you will find time for it. Why not just say I don’t really like to do that. I don’t like to run, I just tell people, I don’t like to run…I don’t say I don’t have time to run. And my friends who all say they never have time seem to be the people who love to scrapbook. Which fine, scrapbook away. But that takes time, a lot of time, and money. And well, no offense to scrapbookers of the world, but people would rather eat cookies than sit on your couch and thumb through your family vacation to the Grand Canyon complete with matching stickers. Scrapbooking and photo albums is todays version of slide shows from when I was a kid, and most people are too polite enough (funny that can be polite then, no other times) and suffer through them. Even with making the cookie dough truffles, … [Read more...]
Air…it’s what’s for dinner…
So I was supposed to have a little medical thing done this week and the idea of cooking after that sounded no fun at all. So as usual, what is more fun than Funfetti? I had seen cake batter Krispie Treats over on my blog crush and figured if any time ever I deserved then was now. :) I had been putting make them off for a very good reason, like Lay’s potato chips, I can’t eat just one. Or four for that matter. Krispie Treats are my kryptonite for sure. It’s because they are a negative food. You know how nutritionist tell you some foods have a negative calorie effect, that by the time your body process them that you burned more calories than you ate? For the record I think that is a load of crap and just an evil way to try and make you eat certain foods. :P I think Rice Krispie Treats are like that for me. Except the negative effect that they have on me is that after eating 8 of them, it’s feels like I ate none of them. And so I want to eat more. They are like eating … [Read more...]

“Dear Peabody- Ever consider becoming a super hero? -R” Surely this is something I ponder on a daily basis, as I am sure you my readers do as well. The short answer of course is no. Superheroes seem to think that Spanx is something you wear as an outfit and not as something you try and get your stomach at bay with. Besides all the real cool Superheroes are taken already. I mean the Wonder Twins…who doesn’t want to turn into ice? Or an osprey? Which I had to look that up as a kid to really know what the heck it was. So not only were they super, they were educational as well. Or how about Aquaman? Swim and then call animals to do things for you, as you yourself have no real powers. Nowadays the only job he could get is working for the Dog Whisperer. I’m not quite sure what my Superpower would be for that matter. Do you get to pick? My guess is no, because I would think that the Wonder Twins and Aquaman would have chosen differently, or at least I would hope so. … [Read more...]
