Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!…

Now before you all panic and freak out that I am going to make some kind of dessert with Spam, I am not, this is not Iron Chef. And though the corn ice cream made people raise an eyebrow or two (it really is awesome like beyond awesome) I wouldn’t go as far to make Spam ice cream. :) Several less than polite emails have come to me saying that they commented and I deleted them. Or I kept their comment but now their link is not in there. First off I probably didn’t delete your comment unless you told me to eat a bag of dicks or something. It most likely went to the spam folder which I check from time to time but not all the time. If you went to spam there could be a few reasons: 1. You are spam and you deserve to sit in the shame that is the spam folder. 2. You look like spam because you have posted your website all over your comment. Don’t do this. This causes you to go to spam. Then if I catch it I have to go and remove the link to let you though. Then you write me less … [Read more...]

Five servings of fruits and veggies…

I have what I feel is an unnatural addiction to corn (not to be confused with porn…spelling is very important here kids). For years growing up it was one of the few *vegetables* I would eat (along with the other fake vegetables of peas and potatoes)…oh and green beans, I loved those as well. I really should have been born somewhere in the Midwest as I would gladly eat corn with every meal. I put it in my scrambled eggs with a little basil…mmmm. I eat giant bowls of it with just butter and sea salt as a meal. Of course on the cob. Creamed. You named it. So naturally, years ago when passing a corn stand and seeing “try our corn ice cream” I decided why the heck not. And holy goodness. So when I got ahold of Jenni’s Splendid Ice Cream book and the first things I saw in the summer section was a recipe for Sweet Corn Ice Cream with Black Raspberry sauce I KNEW that was the first thing I was making no questions asked!!! It did not let me down. If you even remotely like corn … [Read more...]

Cloudy with a chance of dirt…

So while to some people 68F isn’t that warm it is to me, when you live in the apartment I do. PNW apartments are built to keep heat in, as most of the time we are more cool than warm, and therefore can get quite warm and a little stuffy. This makes me not want to bake so much. It doesn’t help that I live on the 3rd floor either. But just to keep me in check I like to keep on my MSN page what the weather is doing in Phoenix. I was beyond amused when this is what I saw. Since when did DUST become weather? I know they get dust, I lived there. Even better is when you get a dust storm followed by an afternoon monsoon storm so everything is caked in mud. So in honor of Phoenix I will highlight things I learned while living there: 1. The phrase “leave no stone left unturned” should be ignored. Never, ever check under a rock. You will most likely meet Mr. Scorpion or worse, his friend the vinegaroon (which think spider meets scorpion…it’s so not good). 2. It’s a dry … [Read more...]

Striking a chord…

When I was going through my divorce I could have sworn that Sirius radio was out to get me. It seemed like every time I got into the car they were playing Third Eye Blind’s song “How’s It Gonna Be”. And stupid me would always listen to it and then proceed to bawl my eyes out. Now of course if that song was on the radio a year before my divorce I would have cared less, other than to go, oh I love that song and listen to it. But because I was going through something it struck a chord and would upset me. Which is often what this blog does to people, it strikes chord. I can assure you if you are a long time reader at some point I am going to strike a chord with you…it’s inevitable. I can’t tell you how many times friends or acquaintances email or call me to ask if my latest post was about them? It usually isn’t. But what it does show is that they are usually guilty about something. Guilty about lying and how they live their life. Guilty about spending money they don’t … [Read more...]
