Move over Hansel and Gretel…

I’m often surprised when people tell me that they don’t have any holiday traditions. My ex-husband didn’t have any, which I actually loved because that meant we would just do mine. :P But I have met more than a few people in my time that don’t do this. And while I think traditions are fun, in some ways, they can also cause unnecessary stress to your holiday season. This year one of my traditions is getting broken. Ever since I can remember we were allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve, which amazingly were always new pajamas. My mom always bought them for me even as an adult, until I got married in which she let my ex-husband know that he was in charge of that now. Even last year, my ex-husband’s gift to me was pajamas since he knows that is one of my major holiday traditions. This year when he told me that he was playing Santa I wrongly assumed that I was getting pajamas. Don’t get me wrong he got me a way cool gift that is more exciting than pajamas it just made me … [Read more...]

Portable cocoa…

hot chocolate truffle

What I am about to say will be upsetting to some…I’m not really a chocolate gal. I mean I like it but it’s not my top pick. I would much rather have something vanilla or caramel flavored. If I’m eating Neapolitan ice cream I am eating the chocolate flavor last. But I do enjoy a good cup of hot chocolate; in fact it may be my favorite beverage of all time. A few years ago my friend gave me a little gift bag and in it was a single size serving of Stephens Candy Cane Cocoa. I fell in love with it right away before even drinking if for the cute happy bear smiling while drinking his cocoa on the package (see below). And when I made the cocoa, it was nothing but pure love. I love the fact that it is a milk chocolate cocoa and that it has real bits of candy cane throughout it. See the best cocoa for me is at Christmas time when I can have my cocoa with marshmallows and a candy cane to stir, so for a cocoa to combine that for me was awesome. The first year all I could find were the … [Read more...]

I’ll check in back…

Dear On-Line Retail Stores, You can suck it. Oh sure you offer up your too good to pass deals to lure me in. And so I add you to my cart, get all excited thinking I am done shopping and go on my merry little way. Only to get an email from you six days later saying opps we don’t appear to have that in stock. You don’t appear to have that in stock? What ever happen to that thing called inventory? I thought we were of the modern age where you could track stuff like that better. And especially On-Line. They say there are three available, I buy one of those and then there are two left. I know we aren’t the leading county in math, but come on people, it can’t be that hard can it? And let’s not forget the part where they already charged you for it so you have to wait for them to put the money back into your account (if debt) or on your credit card. How is it that they can take your money in a millisecond, but to return money it will take 8-14 business days? Clearly there is … [Read more...]

Furbaby Friday….Dear Santa

Dear Santa, I know what you are going to say. I haven’t been on my best behavior as of late. I will not confirm nor deny that I dragged the trash throughout the house to get the paper towel covered in bacon grease. I will not confirm nor deny that I licked a batch of cookies when a certain person wasn’t looking. I will not confirm or deny that peed at my grandma’s house at Thanksgiving which I have never ever peed inside before ever. I will not confirm nor deny that I lunge at people’s hands in order to catch them off guard and they drop food and I just happen to pick that up for them with my mouth. I will not confirm nor deny that I roll in the clean laundry pile before it is folded. I will not confirm nor deny that I went on a hunger strike because I became a snob over food choices. I will not confirm or deny that I keep scratching up mom’s dining room chairs while begging for food which I know I am not supposed to do. Despite all that…look into my eyes. … [Read more...]
