Butterscotch Brownie Banana Muffins

*The president was in town on Friday. He didn’t stop in and say hi. How rude. :) *Yes Paula Deen makes food that is bad for you. So do I. She has diabetes. This should shock no one. I don’t have diabetes, I’m going to guess because I weigh less than her and workout daily. And when I make a batch of brownies I don’t sit around and eat the whole batch (I chop them up and put them in muffins). *I swear spiders are mathematical geniuses knowing how to calculate the exact distance to make sure you can see them but you can’t get to them to squash them. And they just stare you down with their wee beady eyes secretly plotting your death and waiting for you to go to bed. *I’m not really loving any of the new cookbooks coming lately. Seems to be the same recipes over and over again just in a different book. *I think the clutter on my counter is reproducing. Every time I look even after I clean it expands. *There nothing more satisfying than knowing someone is lying and … [Read more...]

*My Zumba dancing is so bad that it made my neighbors move. Or at least that is what I secretly hope. I do stomp extra loud for them. Now before you feel sorry for them know that they smoke out on their patio and we live in a completely smoke free place…not even parking lot. And from 8 am to 10pm daily they play their music so loud my floor vibrates (hence my Zumba retaliation). *I may turn into a jelly bean I have eaten sooo many lately. If possible I think I ate my weight in them this week and going to two of me. :) Seriously, someone hide them from me. It’s very bad that Easter is around the corner. *I have an urge to buy a cookbook anyone have a good suggestion for one? *People like some seriously ugly stuff on Pinterest. *Oreo came out with a Birthday Cake Oreo. I have heard mixed reviews…but that won’t stop me from trying. *Being back to hockey is so nice. My arm isn’t 100% but it’s not bothered during hockey. Plus this girl got a new stick for … [Read more...]

It’s Valentine’s Day. If you have someone in your life celebrate by helping out your local florist or chocolatier. If you don’t have anyone in your life celebrate by helping out your local liquor store or bar. :) You may be thinking, oh it’s just a cookie, but it’s not. This cookie had all the people who ate it asking what on earth was in them and did I have anymore. These come from Not Without Salt and the very adorable Ashley who runs that site. Ashley is kind of my blog crush having worked with Sherry Yard (my pastry crush) at Spago…yeah, that Spago. She brought cookies to a meet and greet for the great Helen of Tartlette. She like I often do had made a basic recipe and then just thrown in things she had in the pantry. She had cardamom in hers…I can’t afford that right now. But she also had dried cherries, espresso, chocolate, and a little sea salt on top. Oh my. I loved them like crazy. I wanted the recipe but she didn’t really have one which I actually … [Read more...]

It’s Valentine’s Day this week which usually involves people’s own version of civil war….those who have a Valentine vs. those who do not. When I taught junior high I used to try and take Valentine’s Day off. Not to spend it with my sweetheart but because I couldn’t deal with the drama. Some called it Valentine’s Day I called it Crying Girl Day. Either girls were really, really happy because the boy they liked gave them something or they were crying because they had no one. Or the guy they liked sent flowers to another girl and not them. And then of course there were the actual girl fights over boys. You think we would learn as grown women but not so much. Valentine’s Day has been whipped into quite a frenzy if you don’t have someone. Oh no, I don’t have someone for Valentine’s Day! Oh no, I don’t have someone for July 17th. What’s July 17th? It’s just a day…and so is February 14th. Personally my day of needing someone is April 15th…Tax Day. I cry a … [Read more...]
