1000 and counting….

I randomly noticed that this was my 1000th post. Some bloggers reach that much quicker than me…some never do (so sad that many of my favorite old blogs are long gone). It took me 7 years and 6 months to get to this point. Had I known that I had hit this milestone I might have done something more exciting but alas I did not. I did use up my Kit Kat’s though. :) If you want to be nice and you haven’t feel free to like my Facebook page in honor of my 1000th post!

Continuing on with highlighting blogs I am thankful for:
Blog #5 Not a food blog but a blog that always makes me laugh…always out loud and usually with snorting involved. The Bloggess is not for the faint at heart though. If you can’t handle the f-bomb this is not the blog for you. She also wrote a book which was the best book I have read in a long time…Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: (A Mostly True Memoir).

Blog #6 What’s Cooking Chicago. Part I love it because Joelen has great dinner ideas on her blog and partially because I just love her as a person! She is an amazing and lovely human being!

Blog #7 Sprinkle Bakes. Another one of those sites that inspires me. She has a book SprinkleBakes: Dessert Recipes to Inspire Your Inner Artist that I reviewed and loved…she not only can bake but got the decorating gene that I did not.
Blog #8 Sweetapolita. Just a fun and whimsical baking site.

These were frivolous and unnecessary and a total want and not a need. But I am a shark lover galore and never in my life have I EVER seen shark pj’s (in adult) before let along footie pj’s. So I robbed from my food budget this week and bought them (Target for those wondering if you need some as well). Luckily Frankenberry was on super sale and I can live off of that all week.

Speaking of Target I went looking for the Gingerbread Oreos and Peppermint Marshmallows (did not find…if you do I will PAY you to send them to me!!! I am in need I tell you…need!!!). Anyway there in the holiday section were Swedish Fish Candy Canes. Shut the Front Door…and the Back Door…and the Garage Door for that matter! You know I had to buy these! And in the interest in science I have already eaten one. Yes, ladies and gentlemen these taste like Red Swedish Fish. A couple people asked…they are not gummy, they are candy cane texture. If you love the Swedish Fish like I do run don’t walk because who knows how long these bad boys will be there.

Oh I just love this time of year…

  1. To quote a good friend, “Bitches love kit kats.”

Grats on the 1000th. You were one of the first food blogs I ever read. You are one of the ONLY blogs I read now. Much love dear friend.

  2. Congrats girl! That’s a whole lotta bloggin’!!

  3. I can’t even begin to describe how much I want to try those Swedish Fish candy canes… And congratulations on the milestone!

  7. Woohoo, congrats on 1,000 posts!!!

  8. Holy heck! 1,000 posts is just crazy! Congratulations . I have loved your blog from the first moment I visited. Here’s to 1,000 more :)

  9. My mouth waters just looking at those bars and it’s still early in the morning. Hoping you’ll post at least 1,000 more.

  10. Last I heard, Swedish Fish were called Surströmming and could clear a whole house of its inhabitants. I take it the American version is somewhat different? ;-)

Love the sharky footwear. I fear that, should I ever find myself in a Target/Walmart/large American chain store, I may well explode with excitement and spend a whole credit card’s worth of money… Thus I will avoid at all costs! ;-)

  11. Oh yes, congratulations on post 1000 – I am currently some 140 posts behind you at 7 years and 7 months!

  12. Congrats! I don’t usually keep track of these things but you made me curious so I checked and I’m only at 295. I would have said it was much, much higher. Oh, well… :)

  13. Man, oh man, I do love me some kit kats! Wow, 1000 posts, that’s a lot of dedication! And flour. And sugar, butter, eggs; all those ingredients required for baking… oh yes, and bacon.

  14. Congratulations on 1000 posts! I can’t wait to go to Target–I need those candy canes!

  15. congrats on 1000th post love your blog. question why don’t you make homemade marshmallows and replace the vanilla with mint. in case you are wondering i did this with my niece she loves marshmallows and mint. they were a big hit and now i have created a monster she wants to try more flavors but your recipe worked great and was so easy

  16. Wow 1000, that is impressive.
I am so envious of your swedish fish candy canes!
Can you get them any where in the UK?

I love putting kit-kat in brownies!
    Great recipe.

  17. wait…did you say gingerbread oreos? and peppermint marshmallows??? i feel so deprived!! i’ve never seen that here! i’m going to have to go hunting in my grocers for them. i never did find any candy corn oreos. :-(

    congrats on your 1000th post!

  18. Congrats on the milestone! I can’t imagine ever reaching 1000, considering the pace I’m currently going at. Oh, and you used my favourite chocolate bar in this! (Kit Kats, not the Milky Ways)

  19. OMG, and I’m only at 28! Congratulations for that milestone. Waiting for #2000.

  20. I do all my grocery shopping at target because the local Bi-Lo ironically does not allow you to “bi” at “lo” prices. See what I did there? ;) Haha. Anyways, I have not seen the oreos or marshmallows either, but I saw on instagram that someone found them and sent some to you, which was very sweet of them :) You are so loved. :D

And I like your footie pajamas. I almost bought the fox ones, but then I’m like… well I’m already buying two Christmas movies and nail polish(which somehow did not make it past the conveyer belt :/) along with the nonperishable foods so I went against it.

  21. Congrats on the 1000th post! I can’t even imagine doing that many. I’m psyched that I’m on the 59th on my blog. I must say that the gingerbread oreos do sound amazing, though this Kit Kat brownie/cookie creation of yours looks even more delicious.

  22. I think the gingerbread Oreos are specific to Wal-Mart stores. Not sure about the Peppermint Marshmallows.

  23. Happy 1000th post!! :-)

And gingerbread OREOS???! What? Oh heck….must find these!
