Ninja like….

I never thought I wanted a slow cooker as that was the lazy cooks way out (ha!) but one day my mother asked me if I wanted one. I said okay I guess picturing myself using it to heat meatballs and little Smokies for parties. Little did I know I would make about half my meals in one now! So back in August when I went to the International Food Bloggers Conference in Portland they had this luncheon that was sponsored by Ninja. I wasn’t even really going to go until I caught wind that they were going to give away a Ninja Cooking System (they said like a slow cooker). So I figured go see what it was about and watched in awe at all the things they said it could do. What can it do? Slow Cooking. You can use this like a regular slow cooker with low, medium and high options and a digital timer. Stove Top. Use the Ninja like a regular stove top with a low, medium or high setting. Great option for searing meats before slow cooking them. Which is what I did for this recipe!!! Oven. … [Read more...]

I’m voting for cornbread….

pumpkincornbread2

It’s Election night. Hopefully if you live in the US you exercised your right to vote. I basically voted in a manner that is the complete opposite of my parents. :) I’m sure they are wondering where they went wrong. These muffins were made to go alongside some Chorizo Chili (yes you will be getting that recipe later this week) and they complement the chili nicely. Or so I am told. Since technically I am allergic to the chili and the muffins. Sigh. And while some food allergies I fudge on a little (cow dairy) peppers are not one that I can mess around with. Well I can I just have to stab myself with an epi pen as my throat closes shut. I would like to say that all of you out there threatening to move to Canada if you don’t like the election results don’t do it. We don’t want you. Stay where you are. Work on making the world and country a better place…not fleeing from it.   … [Read more...]

1000 and counting….

KitKat Layer Bar1

I randomly noticed that this was my 1000th post. Some bloggers reach that much quicker than me…some never do (so sad that many of my favorite old blogs are long gone). It took me 7 years and 6 months to get to this point. Had I known that I had hit this milestone I might have done something more exciting but alas I did not. I did use up my Kit Kat’s though. :) If you want to be nice and you haven't feel free to like my Facebook page in honor of my 1000th post! Continuing on with highlighting blogs I am thankful for: Blog #5 Not a food blog but a blog that always makes me laugh…always out loud and usually with snorting involved. The Bloggess is not for the faint at heart though. If you can’t handle the f-bomb this is not the blog for you. She also wrote a book which was the best book I have read in a long time…Let's Pretend This Never Happened: (A Mostly True Memoir). Blog #6 What’s Cooking Chicago. Part I love it because Joelen has great dinner ideas on her blog and … [Read more...]

Peanut Butter Chocolate Overkill…

pbcuppotsdecreme2

So yeah it’s over kill. Yeah you are probably going into a diabetic coma just looking at the photos. Yes there are three peanut butter cups in that. :) So you are probably saying how on earth do you have leftover peanut butter cups? I know right? I blame my mother. For real. She taught me that if you were having a dinner party for 10 plan for them to eat as much as 50 people. Every time we went to the store we bought a bag of candy for the last month and a half. We didn’t get as many trick or treaters as we thought. Though we didn’t get our pumpkins messed with as we are a very popular house to those that did visit….because we were like here take 12, 13, whatever. :P I still have a dead wasp on my floor by my computer for weeks now. I refuse to pick it up. Know why? Two words: Zombie Wasps. They are real. I know he is just waiting patiently on me to give in pick him up and then he will have me. I have had a couple people get mad at me for still posting on my blog when … [Read more...]
