Holiday Dessert Round Up 2012

Yule Log with Chocolate Orange Coffee Swiss Buttercream So I’ve reached that point. That point where I realized that it’s not all going to be happening in time for Christmas. For one thing we have Christmas early this year as because we have the skids this year on Christmas Eve so I lost a whole day as well. So while most of you have 3 days left…I have two. And yes panic has set in. Did I get enough gifts? Will they like the gifts I got? What should we have for Christmas Eve dinner? Why didn’t I stock up on vodka? :D How are these people related to me? :P And of course what the heck am I going to have for Christmas dessert? When you run a baking/pastry blog everyone expects something amazing. I don’t have amazing in me this year I will be honest. So I’m not sure what is going to be coming out of my kitchen. I have in the past made some really great things…like the Yule Log in the first photo. Not only pretty but it was super yummy. Super yummy! Hopefully if you … [Read more...]

…And I Feel Fine…

In case you aren’t up on current events you are going to die today…or tonight I’m not totally clear on that. I’m not sure if the calendar went UP TO the 21st and so you are good for today and then at midnight you kick off or if that we die today. Nonetheless we are gonners. I’m hoping that it happens at midnight (going into Saturday morning) because I have the late game tonight and so I would be playing hockey at the time and I am more than sure that is the way that I would want to go. Plus MDP would be playing alongside me playing hockey. And that would just be some sort of made for TV movie if ever there was one. You know, if we weren’t all dead. So because I’m going to die and it won’t matter here we go confession time: When I was 8 years old I wanted a stupid mirror heart that literally cost $.10 and I did not have that. I asked my dad and he said no. So I stuck it in my pocket. I still stress about the fact that I stole that to this day. Ironically I tried to … [Read more...]

Spicing things up with Top Chef Seattle and a giveaway…

choccherrycobbler3

So just a couple of days ago Bravo on behalf of Top Chef Seattle contacted me and asked me if I wanted to become a Top Chef A-Lister for Top Chef Seattle. And the first thing I get to do as a Top Chef A-Lister is giveaway a subscription to Food and Wine Magazine to one lucky reader. I subscribe to Food and Wine (via my iPad) and it’s a great magazine with great recipes! To learn how to win and more about Top Chef Seattle keep reading. I will admit that I used to watch the show all the time and now with the kids I hardly have time for TV at all. I didn’t even know it had started up (which I wanted to watch this season as it was in Seattle!). Luckily it was all On Demand through my cable company and I was able to get caught up. If you aren’t watching you should be. Then we can gossip about it better. :P It’s by far my favorite season so far…because it is sooo cool to see the Seattle chefs, Seattle restaurants, and local artisans get featured. In episode 5 the chefs were … [Read more...]

Saving Stamps…

2012christmastree

It’s that time of year. Where people I haven’t heard from all year send me a Christmas card to either 1. Let me know how amazing their lives are and that their kids are the smartest and best ever or 2. Bitch about all the things that are wrong with their health. Since moving I haven’t gotten too many cards this year as I didn’t give out my address to that many people (just random readers that send me stuff. :P ). And I won’t be sending any cards this year because 1. I have 4 stamps all of which have some where to go to 2. I don’t have the money 3. My pinched nerve is back and my right hand is numb which makes it interesting for writing (and running a blog!). So I will write my Christmas letter here: Dear Family and Friends (and in this case the entire Internet), Another year has come and gone. I’m still standing so that is good. Let’s review 2012 shall we: Work: Still running blog (yes my blog is work). Check. In fact it’s gained a lot of popularity this … [Read more...]
