Noshing away…

So 2012 is coming to an end and going into 2013 I am saying goodbye to my other blog Northwest Noshings. I’m not quite sure what I was thinking when I decided “hey I need another blog”. Well I was thinking that I would do more savory on that site and leave just the baking to this site. But after 7 ½ years of blogging I started putting all sorts of recipes on here. Not a ton of people followed that blog but the people that did read it did enjoy the recipes and they still get comments years later. Because there are some quality recipes on there that I want to make sure stay out in the blog universe I will be bringing them over in the coming months. If you have never seen that site hopefully you will enjoy the recipes (many of which are Pacific Northwest inspire) and if you have seen it maybe it will remind you of a recipe you wanted to try and forgot about. :) The first recipe I am bringing over highlights much of what is awesome about the Pacific Northwest…Tillamook … [Read more...]

Fat and Happy…

So you may recall years back my rabbit had a problem with his eye (in fact back then we focused so much on the eye we thought she was a girl like they told us). Anyway a few months back the eye started getting much worse and it spread through the eye quickly. Last time it cost $1000. I simply don’t have that this time to try and save the bunny. Heck I don’t have a $100 to save the rabbit at this point. So I figured he would start to lose his appetite as the eye was progressing quickly and probably die in a few weeks. We told the kids that Little Fuzzy Bunny was probably going to the great carrot patch in the sky and that was okay because he lived a full life. And my theory was if he is going out why not go out fat and happy? So I fed him. And fed him. And fed him. He still is more than alive. He never has lost his appetite and he has double in size. Oops. But he is happy. He is one happy rabbit. :) And amazingly still alive. I often think if I only had a few weeks to live … [Read more...]

I owe you…

I feel like I am in a race. And one I am losing at. :) Today I went around to my 4 different advent calendars (yes I love those things!) and while marking the Day 8 I felt the heart rate peak just a bit. 16 days. It’s not going to happen. What I need to get done in that time isn’t going to happen. I’m an online shopper. I like the convenience of it. I like that if I am watching Big Bang Theory and MDP says “oh I like that one” in reference to one of Sheldon’s shirts ( like this one he wanted...and owns The Big Bang Theory Robot Evolution T-shirt Tee)that I can just go on the iPad, look it up on where to buy, and with a click it will be at my door in 5-7 business days. BUT at holiday time it’s a bit different. You order it says it’s in stock and then you get the dreaded email that it’s on back order or they just outright cancel your order. Well crap on toast and poop on a stick. So this year I am giving I Owe You’s. Not exciting I know but they will get the gift … [Read more...]

Trade ins….

When MDP and I were talking marriage but not actually engaged there were quite a few people who suggested that I use my OLD wedding ring and trade that in to get my new wedding ring. Ummm. I gave them a perplexed look. Number one my ring was from Tiffany’s and while they do “trade ins” so to speak but you must spend a minimum of $10,000 to upgrade your ring (yes you are now all realizing that I had a very expensive ring before…don’t come try and rob me it’s in a safe deposit box). And number two that’s just tacky. Nothing like starting your new marriage with the bad ju-ju attached to your old ring (yes I am superstitious). I guess that’s part of why I wanted my mother’s diamond. There is a lot of good ju-ju on that diamond. A lot. I did not know I was getting my ring. I had already owned the diamond as my mother had it put in a necklace for me. MDP took it without me noticing. He chose what the ring would look like. There aren’t that many surprises left in the … [Read more...]
