I have had the WORST case of insomnia as of late. As in not being able to fall asleep until 5-6am and then only getting a few hours of sleep, then spend the day being totally useless (more so than usual :P )yet the very next night the same thing…no sleep. The silver lining in all of that if you will is that I’ve gotten to catch up on a lot of blogs I just never have the time to read anymore. And while I didn’t really leave too many comments (typing and the hand don’t play well together) one thing I saw on a blog made me feel the need to leave a comment…a GIANT one…right here. Jenna is a blogger whom I don’t know personally but have always read her blog. She is wildly popular having her own book White Jacket Required: A Culinary Coming-of-Age Story and contributes to PBS Food. I follow her on Instagram and Twitter but she probably doesn’t know me from a hole in the wall (or in my sweats as my case may be). Everyday eats…

So often at your favorite BBQ place they offer mac and cheese as a side dish to go with your meal. I always get a pulled pork sandwich and sometimes my side is mac and cheese. One day when the two mixed I decided why not just throw them together the next time I make mac and cheese? So I did. I didn’t plan on putting this up on the blog. It was just a weeknight meal. Yes it’s another mac and cheese recipe. But the teens eat mac and cheese so we make a lot of it in a lot of different ways. Apparently people want to see those ways according to Instagram when I posted it and the emails that I got asking if I was going to share the recipe. So I need to get better about realizing that my week day meals are probably interesting to some people. This is big and it does feed a lot of people. It feed four of us and still had half a pan for MDP to take to work so that his co-workers can love me on Valentine’s Day as well. :) There really isn’t much to say about this. A different kind of love…

So before Christmas FoodSaver Canada asked me if I wanted to get a FoodSaver from them. I have always wanted one but I just never pulled the trigger because of the price. Well after having it for almost 8 weeks now I can tell you that was a dumb move on my part because it’s probably saved me already in money what it would have cost me. (FYI yep FoodSaver Canada did give me a free one but I bought myself the marinate attachment and was given no money to pimp out their product). The exact model I got was FoodSaver T000-08004 V3460 SmartSeal Vacuum-Sealing Appliance, Black just in case you want one too. You are probably thinking what an odd post to on to Valentine’s Day but it is the day of love and I love my FoodSaver. And you know who loves it more…MDP. He volunteers every time to be the one that does the food saving…it’s fun to watch it suck out the air. :) I was truly in awe of how well it keeps meat…and cheese. Just look at the steaks down below. Every speck of my heart….

I’ll admit I was never one for Valentine’s Day as a general rule. I don’t think it’s fair to men (it’s not) and it is a made up holiday. Guys usually are very happy to hear that you are not that into Valentine’s Day because it saves them money. I figured I would always be that way. Turns out I was wrong. It’s not the MDP is into Valentine’s Day by any means. But he is quite a sap and is very much a romantic at heart just not the typical shower you with flowers kind of way. For starters he hugs like no other man I have ever known. It does not matter if I haven’t seen him for 8 hours or 8 minutes when he hugs me he hugs me as if I he hasn’t seen me for years. Like he was lost on a deserted island. The kind of hug that makes you feel loved, missed, safe, and desired. Same thing with how he tells me he loves me.
