Overloaded….

You know what is nice and comforting when you are sick? Carbs. You know what is not? A bowl of big leafy greens with olive oil and lemon juice. That’s what. Yep, I’ve got a summer cold. Lucky me. Normally I would be bundled up on the couch with a ton of tissue in my hands and stuck up my nose (sounds gross but trust me you get to a point where you don’t want to blow your nose anymore), carby snacks, bad TV, and a cooler that MDP usually makes for me when I am sick filled with snacks and beverages (yes he is a keeper). But I’m out of tissue so I’m on toilet paper. No carby snacks allowed. We just downgraded all of our cable to basic to save money so no fun TV, and I’m only drinking water so no fun beverage center. Though I am rocking my pink Hello Kitty Snuggie as it is rather cold today in my part of the world.

In carby snack news, I could really go for one of these right now. I made them for one of my hockey games. I asked the players to name it since I didn’t know what to call them. I got an: “OMG”, “how about the best thing I ever put in my mouth bars”, “Holy mother” and “everybody back away the leftovers are mine bars”. Helpful as always boys. The closest was Kit Kat Chocolate Delicousness Bars which I liked the sound of.

These are a take on Shelly’s Peanut Butter Cup Crack Brownies which I have never had but I bet they are awesome since these Kit Kat, Oreo, Nutella version sure was awesome. I seriously thought my goalie might make a shrine. I ran across I giant box of Kit Kat Mini’s I didn’t know they made them and of course I felt the need to own a box of them. Which I bought and then had to figure out how to use some of them. Enter these.
I’m sure every guy who ate them on the hockey team would tell you to make these asap. And they are mean hockey players so you should do what they say. ;)

  1. I can’t even handle these. CANNOT HANDLE!

Also, leafy greens are my mortal enemy.

  2. WOW!! These are an overload of all the right things!!!

  3. Can you have broth? A really nice thing when you’re feeling sick is to just heat up some chicken/beef/veggie broth with your favorite herbs and spices. The heat and the warmth of the spices can really soothe your throat and help unclog your sinuses. You could even throw in some of those leafy greens and wilt them to add a little body to the soup. I know it’s not exactly Nutella, Oreos, and KitKats, but it helps. Hope you feel better soon!

  4. Peabody says:

@KB- I have has vegetable broth (can’t have meat broth) but I really just want a giant cinnamon roll

  5. Oh, girl! Feel better soon. Those summer colds are complete buzz kill. Drink a big ol’ mug full of warm freshly squeezed lemon juice and water with some honey or stevia drops (or Truvia) for sweetening each morning and before bedtime. It always helps me…both for the Vit C and to keep your body alkaline for a faster recovery. I look forward to my morning drink each and every day. But, WHOA! These bars of yours? Slutty-good, fer shure. I swear…I’m feeling a major snack attack comin’ on. (I’m loving/hating you right now.) Working on a special feature post for Friday and these bad boys just made the cut! Get well soon, my friend. xo

  6. Holy crap! This look amazing and every month *ahem* I crave brownies like mad. I think you had started my craving early haha! These really do look like deliciousness bars. :)

As for your cold I’m sorry :( being sick is so fun. I always crave things that you aren’t supposed to eat when I have a cold, things such as ice cream, cheese, a lot of milk, etc. Hopefully your cold wont last too long. And you are so not alone on the stuffing your tissues up your nose. I do it all the time I get at least 3 or 4 colds per year and after one day I just shove it up there. My dad doesn’t like talking to me when I have colds because I shove tissues up my nose and he can’t take me seriously. FEEL BETTER!

  7. Wishing you a quick, full recovery!!!

Oh man…. Kit Kat bars in brownies? Nutella in brownies? Oreos in brownies? Ah-mazing.

  8. Those look fabulous!!! I’m breaking in the oven this weekend with these – can you believe I haven’t baked yet! I think the name “Holy Mother” bars works for a name lol!

  9. Katie Rose says:

Wow. Just, wow. I want some of these for breakfast right now, but since I’m on the “no joy” diet too (daughter can’t have wheat so we don’t keep it in the house) I’ll just have to drool over pictures. But guess what I’ll be bringing to the next potluck I attend?

  10. Oh man. I love me some leafy greens ALL the time. But I love carbs, too. Which is why I love the leafy greens. :D Nice brownies. I’m imagining sinking my teeth into one…maybe two. Sorry you’re under the weather and hope your ship shape soon!

  11. WOW. These look INSANE. I definitely need some. :)

  12. Dear Peabody,

I, too, have this nasty cold virus. It IS a major drag as I’m also wanting all the things I simply can’t have. Like Culver’s frozen custard…which I’m not supposed to eat anyway… They had peanut butter chocolate banana as the flavor-of-the-day on Wednesday. Yes, yes I bought some. In a pint container. And took it home. AND IT WILL BE MY REWARD FOR WAITING until this STUPID cold is GONE!!

    So…there’s that anyway. I feel your pain…..

    Love, Chris

  13. No such thing as overloaded in my world ;) this looks indulgent!! I’d love to try

  14. one of these and a cup of java I think I can multi task all day. YUM!!!!! Paulette

  16. @willcookoforsmiles- that’s fine thanks for giving me a heads up

  17. Can I use peanut butter instead of Nutella? The hubby doesn’t like Nutella…weird I know!
