Don’t quit your day job….

I remember my first Food Blogger Conference ever. It was IFBC. It was in Seattle coming back to Seattle this year!) and I thought what the heck. I went there to meet people and I did. It was the first time I met Alice in person (so lovely) and partners in crime for the weekend: Lori, Amanda, and Cheryl. I remember we were sitting in I think an SEO talk while Amanda and I were drinking beer we snuck in to make it a little more exciting (it did help). Lori was giggling at us while she looked at her laptop looking for people who had taken her images/and or recipes. She was engaging in social media as well. I remember looking over from my IPA and thinking Dang like she’s a real food blogger….as in she treats it like her job. And because of her drive and talent Lori has a cookbook (The Recipe Girl Cookbook), on TV segments, sold her book on QVC, and works with many brands. I, I was drinking beer. :) I was recently talking to a very smart business man (and he’s not smart just … [Read more...]

Stuck in the middle…

My father once told me in my early 20’s when we were talking marriage, relationships, and what not that “the thing you will love the most about your partner will end up being one of the things you dislike the most about your partner”. Which I thought was a really odd statement until I got married and realized he was dead on. For my dad he loves that my mother is so generous. So much so that she is often giving time she doesn’t have and money she doesn’t really have on others. But he loves her for it and so he goes with it. I think one of the things during our marriage that MDP will learn to dislike (well already does) is how honest I am. He tells me all the time that I don’t need to be THAT honest with people. But he always backpedals and tells me he doesn’t really mean that as that is one of the things he absolutely loves about me and not to change. While I still believe in tact (and do my best with the people I care about to use it) you will get the truth, … [Read more...]

I keep staring at a blank Word document so I am just going to ramble: I found the happiest person ever. It’s a doctor I have waited over a year to get into (good news is once you are in you are in). I can see why people like him. Seriously the happiest, genuine human being I have ever run across. Too bad he can’t bottle himself up and send it off in prescription form. :) I’m having a major case of jealous as many a food blogger friend of mine heads off to Austin this week to BlogHer Food and I will be here in the Seattle area. At least they claim we are getting good weather all this week into the weekend and they ironically show rain for Austin. But then again I don’t want bad weather for my friends who are going. I’m in serious protest that it is June. I’m not ready for June. In two months Hallmark starts to put out Christmas ornaments. I’m not ready. I’m tired of people telling me they have no time and then I go look on their FB page and see that they … [Read more...]

DoleBananaParty

Friday night I had me a little get together all dedicated to Dole Bananas. Dole is rolling across the country in their Peel the Love Food Truck Tour and just happens to be right now in Seattle. Right now they are at the Edmonds Waterfront Festival today and tomorrow for those of you who are local and then rolls on to Sacramento. To see if the truck will be in your area check out the Peel the Love Website. The party was filled with fun and a whole lot of bananas. FYI never Google Banana Party the results are so not good. ; ) <p> *Yep, Dole Bananas did compensate me to throw a Peel the Love Banana party just so you know but all the writing and opinions as always are my own. So all this week starting Monday I will be showcasing recipes using Dole Bananas. So if you are a banana lover this coming week is your week!   Last weekend MDP's daughter wanted to have her friends over to have a bake a cake off so to speak. Since I always encourage kids to get … [Read more...]
