May the Funfetti be with you….

We had a CRAZY busy weekend this weekend. Friday was MDP’s 40th birthday. The skids came over and we took him to our new favorite place to eat and inhaled food (I had the Peanut Butter Bacon Burger which may sound gross to you but is totally awesome). Then we were off to hockey to burn that burger off. :) Saturday was of course Groundhog’s Day which if you are a long time follower of this blog you know it’s my favorite holiday of all time. So I got my well wishes and had my traditional sprinkle donut and Chinese food. We also very excitingly got to run errands and took in 9 year old basketball. Sunday while everyone else was getting excited about football we went and played an hour and 45 minutes of pick up hockey and then off to a Super Bowl Party. I didn’t spend any time watching the game. I mostly chatted people’s ears off especially the guy who was named after Star Wars! His sister too. That is so what would have happened to my kids. He couldn’t dispute my genuine … [Read more...]

Valentine Quick Fix….

My uncle’s advice to me when I was in college and in love was to go on a road trip that was more than 8 hours in a car and that will tell you if you are compatible with someone or not. It’s actually a really good indicator he is right…so is spending 5 straight days with someone in a city you’ve never been too…and a 6 ½ hour flight home when you are both tired. When you can spend 5 days with someone and enjoy them the whole time and not at some point wish they would go away…that’s a good indicator. In fact you leave the vacation wishing you had more days together…and we’ve spent the last 4 days discussing how we miss not spending all day together (feel free to vomit at this point). Being in mushy minded mode has reminded me that Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. I’m not the biggest fan of this day as I feel men get screwed but since I have a valentine I will be doing something. In other good news I normally get my dieting readers back at that point as well. … [Read more...]

I owe you…

I feel like I am in a race. And one I am losing at. :) Today I went around to my 4 different advent calendars (yes I love those things!) and while marking the Day 8 I felt the heart rate peak just a bit. 16 days. It’s not going to happen. What I need to get done in that time isn’t going to happen. I’m an online shopper. I like the convenience of it. I like that if I am watching Big Bang Theory and MDP says “oh I like that one” in reference to one of Sheldon’s shirts ( like this one he wanted...and owns The Big Bang Theory Robot Evolution T-shirt Tee)that I can just go on the iPad, look it up on where to buy, and with a click it will be at my door in 5-7 business days. BUT at holiday time it’s a bit different. You order it says it’s in stock and then you get the dreaded email that it’s on back order or they just outright cancel your order. Well crap on toast and poop on a stick. So this year I am giving I Owe You’s. Not exciting I know but they will get the gift … [Read more...]

Oh Fudge…

peanutbutterfudge1

The first time I made fudge I used my mom’s no fail fudge recipe…only to fail. Second time. Fail. And so I went in search of easier fudge recipes. One of the fudge recipes I love to make is peanut butter fudge…very simple and super yummy. It almost reminds me of no-bake cookies which are also yummy. I was sitting around thinking my pants were feeling far too comfortable for the holiday season…I mean I haven’t even broken out my holiday eating sweatpants yet. :) So why not make some fudge. And boy did I. I made three different batches that day. I knew I wanted the peanut butter fudge but really wanted chocolate with it. This worked nicely with the exception that sometimes the bottom half likes to detach from top…which if fine I just stick it back together. It only happened on a couple of them. In other news we have a winner of the Harry and David Peppermint Glacier Gift Basket! True Random Number GeneratorMin: Max: Result:17Powered by RANDOM.ORG Which was … [Read more...]
