Today instead of honoring Veteran’s (or Remembrance) Day, most people were preoccupied with what they were going to wish for at 11-11-11-11:11. Ah, the priorities of people. Nonetheless you could have easily honored Veteran’s as well as wished yourself a little wish at 11:11am this morning, so let’s hope people went that route. It makes me wonder what people wished for. My dog probably wished for bacon or pizza crust. Tons of teenagers (or grown 40-something women) probably wish that Twilight was real and that Edward married them. You might laugh at that but you would be surprised at the volume of email I receive because I live in Washington State asking me to get people authentic Twilight stuff from Forks, WA. FYI- I live four hours from there…stop asking. Some people were probably wishing for something good to happen to them. Some people probably wishing for something bad to happen to someone else. Some people were wishing for the winning lottery numbers. Some people are … [Read more...]
Sharing is caring…
I was sitting with a group of mom friends and one of them was mentioning how they wished the housing market was better right now (who doesn’t?). Come to find out she wants to sell her four bedroom home and upgrade. I asked why the heck would she do that? Well we might want another child. I said, okay? You have two. Why do you need a 5 bedroom home? And she went in to how ideally she would really like a 6 bedroom home or at least 5 bedroom and a den. A master bedroom, a room for each kid, a playroom (what are bedrooms for?), and guest bedroom. Growing up we never lived in anything larger than a 3 bedroom home. My parents now retired live in a two bedroom home (with a tiny, and I mean tiny loft up top…it’s an A frame). There were 5 of us. My mom, my dad, me, my two brothers, and our various dogs and random animals I would beg to have from a turtle to rabbits. My parents had their room. I had mine (I was the only girl…if I had a sister I am quite sure we would have shared a … [Read more...]
Drawing a blank…
I keep staring at the blank page and so I am just writing something down. Anything. So here you go: 1. You can’t argue with crazy because they think they are always right. 2. I’m happy Trader Joe’s carries varieties of goat’s cheeses…not just goat cheese like you know goat cheese. 3. Saw the movie The Kids Are Alright….and well. Hmmm. I know it won awards and all but boy was that movie, well odd. 4. I correctly guessed that my friend’s baby would be a girl. You may not think this is exciting but in the last 4 years I have been 22 out of 23 in correctly guessing the sex of my friends soon to be babies. And I am still waiting for proof on the one incorrect guess. 5. Schweddy Balls ice cream is a real thing. It’s also hard to find. My bff went to several stores to hunt it down for me. We like it. We even bought another pint of it…only to anger a woman who was also looking for it. As we knew where it was and she didn’t and she was talking about it on the phone … [Read more...]
Take me out to the ball game…
I don’t talk about my brothers much on here. Not that I don’t have many an amusing story about them, I just don’t seem to tell them for some reason. Anyway, my one brother has 4 children ranging (I believe…bad with birthdays) from ages 8 to 19 (with my oldest nephew having a birthday this month). That is a lot of mouths to feed and it certainly isn’t cheap, especially the growing boys. Wow. My brother was telling my dad how he had gone the other day to make a sandwich, but when he went to make it, the meat they just bought (quite a bit) was all gone, as was the bread. My brother figured the likely culprit was the oldest home from college and he asked him. What happened to the meat and bread? Well the meat went to his one sandwich and he took the loaf of bread as well as a jar of peanut butter to work just in case he got hungry, which apparently he did. Feeding that many kiddos really means that going out to eat often is a bad financial choice. I remember growing up (we … [Read more...]
