I would love to say that I can’t believe the calendar will read December tomorrow and that we are just one month shy of yet another new year, but I do believe it. The older I get the quicker the months just seem to go. I blinked and November was gone. So I want to take this opportunity on this last day of the thankful month to say thanks for being a reader. You really have to like my site to read it. I don’t do giveaways (don’t get me wrong I would love to have the money to give away a mixer, crock pot, or a camera) so you are just here for the food. :) If it weren’t for you the only readers I would have would be family members that I would guilt into reading it and a few former teacher friends. :P But no use fighting it, tomorrow is December. I’m ready this year. Last year at this time I didn’t have an ounce of Christmas spirit (if you know me, this is highly unusual), I only put up decorations because my parents were coming out. But this year, the tree is up and the … [Read more...]
What a tangled web we weave….
I used to teach with a teacher who was a horrible pathological liar. When I say horrible I don’t mean just that she was horrible for always lying, I mean she was bad at keeping track of the lies. My favorite of all time was when we had a school carnival. We as teachers were all required to work a booth for 1 hour. And while giving up a Friday night isn’t all that awesome it only happens once a year so it’s not like it killed us. Plus it’s a great way to interact with the students and their parents in a casual way. So one year she makes up and elaborate story I don’t even really remember what it was about but when it came down to it there was no way she was going to be able to come and work the carnival. Since we do the planning months ahead of time she apparently forgot this. Only to show up to the carnival with her family. She is the woman who calls in sick only to post on her personal blog that she played hooky from work that day to go shopping. She’s the one to tell … [Read more...]
On top of my laundry all covered with cheese…
I’m pretty sure that if I put as much effort into actually cleaning as I did in avoiding cleaning, I would have the world’s cleanest apartment ever. Sadly this is not the case. This weekend was super clean weekend. Scrubbing floors, stain treating carpets, rearrange closets, and laundry galore. I don’t mind laundry. I will put clothing in and out of the machine all day long. And gladly plop it down on the ground. Now folding it, that’s a whole other ball game. A ball game I do not like to play. And then putting it away…ugh. I like Mount Laudrious and so does the dog. If I folded the laundry and put it away all the time she would have nowhere to lie down. So I’m really just helping out the dog, yeah, that’s it, the dog. :D Needless to say I was a trooper and got it done. What I hardly got done was baking. And that’s the weather’s fault. No hurricane here, well not the natural disaster kind anyway. But it was warm and I just really don’t get in the mood to bake at … [Read more...]
Peanut Butter Pie-ish for Mikey…
Unless you are a famous, a fallen police officer or fireman, serviceman, or you killed someone chances are your death isn’t going to make it onto the news. Not that the news needs anymore sadness. Though I must admit I do enjoy when they interview a killer’s neighbors. I was watching the news back a few weeks ago and the killers neighbor said he was a nice man, kept to himself and my favorite…always had a well-kept lawn. So beware of your neighbor with a well-manicured lawn. :P We all deal with grief in different ways. My way, is usually humor. It’s how I deal with most things in life. Now I don’t mean I crack jokes about the deceased but I usually do my best to lighten things up. If you are a Friend’s fan, I’m pretty much like Chandler. I try to defuse tension by attempting to get people to smile. It’s how I deal with things. You deal with things in a different way. And Jennie will deal with her grief in a different way. If you somehow missed it, today we are … [Read more...]
