Bear sized….

A couple of weeks ago on the way home from work MDP called and asked if I need anything and I told him yes that I needed honey. He got to the store and text me what size. I wrote back “bear sized”. “Bear sized” he questioned. “Yep, bear sized” “That’s not a size” “It is for honey” Didn’t hear from him for a few. He called and said I am staring and four different sizes of bears. What size? I being annoying said “bear size”. I told him it was his choice. He brought back a gigantic bear filled with honey. I only needed 3 TBSP. :P He now randomly buys me small bear sized bottles of honey for no reason other than the thinks he is being funny, which in a way he is. But I now have a lot of honey. I decided to do a take on cornbread. I love sweet corn in desserts…sweet corn ice cream is pretty much my favorite flavor of all time. So I went searching for a cupcake version. I found one and messed with it a little and came up with something I … [Read more...]

The Muppet Movie comes out on DVD today. I am a nerd and preordered it. I can’t help it. I loved the Muppets as a kid and seeing the movie last Thanksgiving just warmed my little heart. There truly is a character for everyone. The science nerd in me loves Beaker. The sarcastic person in me loves Statler and Waldorf. For no apparent reason I love Gonzo’s girlfriend Camilla the Chicken. And of course my favorite of all time is the Swedish Chef. What about you, who is your favorite Muppet? Pigs in Space could always cheer me up and when Elton John sang Crocodile Rock in the swamp with the crocs singing along it was the first song ever to get stuck in my head. :) I have nothing but fond memories of that show so to show my support for the release I decided to make cupcakes with rainbow swirl frosting. It would have been much easier if I owned gel food coloring but I do not. But as you can see they still turned out just fine. Rainbow Connection Cupcakes Buttermilk … [Read more...]

Some time in my late 20’s someone wrote a book called Letters From a Nut. It was a funny book where I guy basically wrote fake letters to places just to mess with them. In the spirit of the book I decided I would do one of my own. I wrote to one of the nicer Scottsdale resorts asking if they had recovered my missing tooth. I went in to great embarrassing detail about how I had lost it during rough sex and then proceed to explain just what the tooth looked like. I sent the letter to a friend who lived out of state to send it to them so that the post mark matched the address I gave. While they of course did not find the tooth they did send me a free night’s stay at one of their hotels. I of course paid that forward to a teacher that no one really liked because I figured that the coupon was somehow marked and I just pictured the staff laughing hysterical after the couple went up to their room. Now before you think I’m totally horrible, she had a very nice time she said. She said … [Read more...]

Survived Super Bowl...I didn't even really watch the commercials. Except the David Beckham one not because of why you are thinking but because a room full of hockey playing guys were less than thrilled it was on. Vodka Gummy Bears are very dangerous. There are a lot of snacks that have dairy or peppers in them at a Super Bowl Party. I got flowers, I am loved.  :) Crazy Cocker Spaniel keeps getting dragged out on walks. She is the worst walker in the world. She walks in a zig zag and stops every 12 seconds to sniff something. And usually not a good something. I get to play hockey tonight. This is the third time I have made Key Lime Pie Cupcakes. Each time a little different. This time the no bake key lime pie filling is used in the buttercream frosting as well. To see the other two versions go here and here. Each version is good, but then again I love all things Key Lime. Key Lime Pie Cupcake Version 3.0 2 ¼ cups cake flour 1 TBSP baking powder ½ tsp … [Read more...]
