Someday we’ll find it…

15. It’s seems like a lifetime ago and yet just like yesterday all the same. It was a big year for me. My birthday was in the summer so I was 15 as a sophomore (most of my friends were older and getting to drive…not that I am bitter or anything). Fifteen was the year of my first real boyfriend. He was a senior. He looked like Goose from Top Gun. I’m still surprised that my parents let me date him. Though in their defense I was a really good kid. Never got in to trouble, didn’t drink or do drugs, and always had good grades…the only time slipping in Geometry to get a boy I like to tutor me (Hi B…he reads the blog). That ploy didn’t work so I went back to just getting good grades in that class. :P I have to say he was the worst kind of boyfriend to have as a first boyfriend. Why? Because he was actually a good boyfriend. We went out on fun dates like horseback riding, nice dinners, tons of movies, and skiing. He bought me flowers and stuffed animals and called me from … [Read more...]

applepiecaramelbutterpecanmilkshakes1

So one of the highlights of our Philly trip was me experiencing the Peach-Butter Pecan Pie Milkshake that Franklin’s Fountain made. I knew I had to try and recreate it. And yes they really do serve it with a whole piece of pie on top…not to mention the pie in the actually milkshake as well. Pure genius. Evil genius, but genius nonetheless! It’s not exactly peak peach season right now and I never like to make things exactly how I had them anyway…. so I switched the peach out for apple because I love me some apple pie. And instead of butter pecan I added caramel to it because caramel makes everything better…well it doesn’t make clean up better. Now I made the ice cream and I made the pie for this. As I mentioned on FB I have been wanting to bake/cook big time just haven’t had the time. This weekend is my first time where I didn’t have anything! Don’t you just love those weekends? I don’t get them often so I am relishing that big time. While it might seem like … [Read more...]

May the Funfetti be with you….

We had a CRAZY busy weekend this weekend. Friday was MDP’s 40th birthday. The skids came over and we took him to our new favorite place to eat and inhaled food (I had the Peanut Butter Bacon Burger which may sound gross to you but is totally awesome). Then we were off to hockey to burn that burger off. :) Saturday was of course Groundhog’s Day which if you are a long time follower of this blog you know it’s my favorite holiday of all time. So I got my well wishes and had my traditional sprinkle donut and Chinese food. We also very excitingly got to run errands and took in 9 year old basketball. Sunday while everyone else was getting excited about football we went and played an hour and 45 minutes of pick up hockey and then off to a Super Bowl Party. I didn’t spend any time watching the game. I mostly chatted people’s ears off especially the guy who was named after Star Wars! His sister too. That is so what would have happened to my kids. He couldn’t dispute my genuine … [Read more...]

With Sprinkles On Top….

strawberrymalkmilkcheesecake1

Now you are probably looking at this cake and thinking aww how sweet Peabody made a cake for a 6 year old girl. Nope. That cake is for a 40 year old man. :P I know it seems silly for a grown man to be getting a pink cake with sprinkles for his birthday but MDP is pretty confident in his sexuality (as am I ;) ) so he can handle it. When I was trying to figure out what to make MDP for a birthday cake (he is not a big fan of chocolate) I asked for suggestions on FB (are you following me on FB? If not, would you?) and boy did I get a lot suggestions (yay!). Other than making me hungry for cake, someone put a link to a Strawberry Milk Cheesecake that Sprinkle Bakes made. I had it pinned already but forgot about it as I often do. I knew immediately that would be the cake. After all it’s way too festive and MDP LOVES Strawberry Milk (heck I just made him bark). Problem is that Heather (Sprinkle Bakes) excels at decorating and Peabody excels at knowing people who are good at … [Read more...]
