Happy Halloweenie…

skeletongrahams2

Happy Halloween everyone...some of your are probably already back from getting your candy. Crazy Cocker Spaniel is just getting ready. Don't worry she just looks sad because she is bacon and can't eat herself. These are a quick and fun project to do with the kids. Here is MDP's step son learning the joys of piping royal icing. :) They are just a half a marshmallow (full size), a chocolate graham cracker, white royal icing, and a black food coloring marker. Hope everyone was/is safe tonight and got some good candy...now on to November. … [Read more...]

Happy trees…

Growing up I loved watching Bob Ross on PBS…even as a teenager (did you know he was on for 31 seasons! That’s a lot of happy trees). So much so that I convinced my dad to get to use his oil paints (he used to paint). It’s not that I really every think I wanted to paint. I think it was that Bob Ross and his happy trees was just so darn happy that I thought maybe if I painted myself something in sky blue and Van Dyke brown my happiness would come too. It was probably just the paint fumes. :P Anyway I painted a variety of things…all landscape of course and I made what Bob Ross would call happy accidents a lot (as he would say “we don't make mistakes, we just have happy accidents”). My first ones were mostly blobs but my father hung them proudly and my mother followed along and hid them in the dark corners of the house. :) I wasn’t just randomly thinking of Bob Ross…yesterday he was on the Google page and several people “thought of me” when they saw it and asked … [Read more...]

Play Up Dessert with Oreo…

If you look almost anywhere on my site you will see my love of Oreo’s in all forms. So when Kitchen PLAY asked if I wanted to make a Halloween recipe using Oreo’s it was pretty much a no-brainer. I throw Oreo’s in just about everything from Rice Krispie Treats to ice cream to brownie bars to cheesecake. And my favorite way to make cheesecake…mini with an Oreo cookie as the crust. I had wanted to make something using the Halloween Oreo’s (not to be confused with the Candy Corn Oreo’s that I loved) but couldn’t find them. So I went with a mix of Golden (my favorite) and classic Oreo. And to make things a little more festive I made my Oreo’s into skeleton heads. And you get a chance to show Kitchen PLAY and Oreo what you can make with Oreo’s. That’s right… Kitchen PLAY is giving away two OREO Halloween prize packs filled with goodies like: a spider spatula and apron, pumpkin cupcake holders, a Halloween serving dish, Halloween sprinkles and of course, Halloween … [Read more...]

What a week….

Ahhh, I missed my little blog. This has been one crazy week last week and not really in a great way. First and most mind consuming is that my sweet pup is sick. So an emergency trip to the vet was in order…except I can’t drive so that became quite an ordeal that is a story for another time as I have no energy at all. She is doing better but I still worry. :( I got many an email asking about how the foot is doing…in a nutshell…not good. I was told to rest and put my foot up until I went back to the Ortho next Friday. I have done none of that. And as of a result I am paying the price. I am quite sure the Ortho will yell at me and tell me I’m not healing and it is numb up to the knee cap most of the time. :S Bad Peabody. I miss getting to do normal things like oh say DRIVE. Stand for more than 30 minutes. Baking things complicated (like practicing wedding cakes!) hence today’s recipe. The privilege of wearing a variety of clothing (I wear the same three pairs of … [Read more...]
