First off it’s National Margarita Day! Second off to the 41 people who sent me hate mail yesterday you need this drink more than me. Sorry to those that I spoiled PART ONE of the finales to Top Chef Seattle. Bravo pays me to discuss the show. I have to do it in a certain amount of time. I’m sorry you didn’t get to watch it on your DVR yet (remember to good old days when you missed a show and just missed it). I found out about who was out before I watched it on FB. Oh well. I didn’t go off on the person. I still watched the episode to see WHY people were in or out. But I certainly did enjoy “I hope something really important in your life gets fucked up” and “thanks for ruining my weekend” or how about “ hey dumb bitch, next time put spoiler on your site”. So I’m just going to go there and say its reality TV and if you are that attached to it then you might want to rethink your priorities in life. I wrote it late at night after I stayed up to watch the show. I … [Read more...]

I have had the WORST case of insomnia as of late. As in not being able to fall asleep until 5-6am and then only getting a few hours of sleep, then spend the day being totally useless (more so than usual :P )yet the very next night the same thing…no sleep. The silver lining in all of that if you will is that I’ve gotten to catch up on a lot of blogs I just never have the time to read anymore. And while I didn’t really leave too many comments (typing and the hand don’t play well together) one thing I saw on a blog made me feel the need to leave a comment…a GIANT one…right here. Jenna is a blogger whom I don’t know personally but have always read her blog. She is wildly popular having her own book White Jacket Required: A Culinary Coming-of-Age Story and contributes to PBS Food. I follow her on Instagram and Twitter but she probably doesn’t know me from a hole in the wall (or in my sweats as my case may be). But I was really bothered not by her post but by the reaction … [Read more...]

Oh so good to see the haters are back in full swing. I was starting to think I had lost my edge. I think I still have but apparently the key to riling up people is to use a microwave. Ever since I posted my fudge recipe and discussed microwave candy on my Facebook page there has been much less than love mail we will call it. Once again I was contributing to the death of Americans by suggesting that they use the microwave to make something. Let me be the first to say that I hardly ever use my microwave. It’s there. I don’t even make microwave popcorn, I do it on the stove top. But kids are here and from time to time if we are not around they like the ease of the microwave…and when I am injured so do I. I posted a picture of my Bolognese sauce on Saturday night onto Facebook and several people wanted the recipe. I’m sure I will get hate mail over this that it’s not really a Bolognese sauce…guess what, I’m not Italian so I’m not committing any crimes…I’m … [Read more...]

Ladies and Gentleman, Sexual Chocolate…

So I have a lot of teenage readers and I got a question through email that I originally was just going to write back to them directly and be done with it but I thought I would address it on the blog. It’s a super long email so I will just paraphrase the jest of it. Basically this girl’s parents don’t like talking about sex at all with her other than to just say don’t do it. She says that she really likes a boy and was trying to talk to her mom about it and got shot down. I just want to say to parents that if you teen is trusting you enough to come talk to you about sex be thankful. Regardless of your feelings on it, at least hear them out as open lines of communication are especially important during the teen years. When I taught 8th grade I can’t tell you how many kids would come to me with their real life problems because they didn’t feel they could talk to their parents about it. And parents please do not use the excuse of your kid is a good kid and therefore would … [Read more...]
