Spicing things up with Top Chef Seattle and a giveaway…

choccherrycobbler3

So just a couple of days ago Bravo on behalf of Top Chef Seattle contacted me and asked me if I wanted to become a Top Chef A-Lister for Top Chef Seattle. And the first thing I get to do as a Top Chef A-Lister is giveaway a subscription to Food and Wine Magazine to one lucky reader. I subscribe to Food and Wine (via my iPad) and it’s a great magazine with great recipes! To learn how to win and more about Top Chef Seattle keep reading. I will admit that I used to watch the show all the time and now with the kids I hardly have time for TV at all. I didn’t even know it had started up (which I wanted to watch this season as it was in Seattle!). Luckily it was all On Demand through my cable company and I was able to get caught up. If you aren’t watching you should be. Then we can gossip about it better. :P It’s by far my favorite season so far…because it is sooo cool to see the Seattle chefs, Seattle restaurants, and local artisans get featured. In episode 5 the chefs were … [Read more...]

Target Temptress…

I had heard a rumor about Oreo coming out with a Candy Corn version for the Fall. My friend said she thought she saw them at a local grocery store only to find out they were being only carried at Target. It’s always a risk going into Target. For the most part I am good. I go in and get what I am shopping for. It’s when I go with MDP that I get in trouble. He gets very shiny squirreled and then I do. The trip started off well. We had planned on just getting season two of The Big Bang Theory. As not only do I love it but so do MDP’s kids and we always get stuck watching the same episodes over and over again on TBS. MDP pointed out the Hello Kitty slippers and while OMG how cute I told him I already owned slippers and tried to quickly run away from them. That was where my will power got left apparently. :) As I bought all the seasons of Big Bang that they offer. Because I figured we are going to get though the season and then I will just have to risk coming back to Target. And … [Read more...]

Is Simplicity Best? Or Simply the Easiest…

I am a girly girl even though to see me most days you would not really get that impression (I mean I’m wearing a hoodie that says “I Like Naps” right now) so it was a bit of a surprise to me when I married the picky eater that I didn’t really care about the dress or so I thought. I had picked one out in a magazine. I found where they sold it locally and went and tried it on. And told them okay, I’ll take it. The girl was like, don’t you want to try others on? I said no. She said but you need the bride experience. Um, okay. So I tried on 10 dresses. Left with the one I came for. That all turned out like I thought. What didn’t turn out how I thought was when I started going for fittings and then the actual day I got to wear that dress…I loved that dress. And not even that dress as a general rule, the wedding dress. So this time around I know that the dress is very, very important to me. Yes, I know you that you only wear it once. And my last dress was rather costly … [Read more...]

Anything you can do….

BlackRasberryChocolateChunkIceCream1

I have a habit, not a good one, not a bad one…just a habit of seeing something or tasting something and knowing that I can make it better…or at least for cheaper. Case in point: the other day I walked by ice cream isle in search of these non-dairy bon bon type things that I like and I saw a tiny, tiny jar of Black Raspberry and Chocolate ice cream and saw the price tag of almost $7 and nearly fell over. The flavor sounded awesome the price tag on the other hand was ridiculous. I’m sure it’s yummy ice cream but wow. I knew I could make about 5 times that amount for the same price and so I set out to do it. I had to use a combo of black raspberries and tayberries as I ate too many of the black raspberries without thinking. :) They work just as good. Needless to say I made the batch which makes 1 quart for around $2.20. So clearly I made more for less. And let me tell you that if this taste ANYTHING like the original. OMG. My jeans are thanking me so much for being allergic to … [Read more...]
