Saying Karma is a very trendy thing to do. I probably hear it almost every day coming out of someone’s mouth. I find it most amusing that most of my friends who say it often are Christians. And well the concept of karma is a religious one coming to us from the Buddhist and the Hindus. And last I checked Christians only get to follow one God’s teaching? I’m not here to get into religion; I’ll leave that for Rick Perry. But I will say that I don’t really believe in Karma. I don’t really believe in the concept for the fact that #1 I am not a Buddhist or a Hindu and #2 far too many people I know that are good people have many a bad thing happen to them, and yet the people who I think in my life who could really get a good swift kick in the pants seem to continue to skate through life with things just kind of falling into place for them. Or just finding new people to take advantage of. Instead of doing things to gain good Karma for the day, why not just do something … [Read more...]
Mini 3.14′s…
It’s the day after Thanksgiving and while most people will tell you that it’s the day to shop, I say it officially starts that which is the baking frenzy. It’s when I get the most traffic all year to my site (not to be confuse with January where everyone is on a diet and no one stops by). :P I will admit that in the world of pastry I don’t really do pie. I hate making crust. And while I will happily eat a pie that someone made (especially apple) or hell even a Hostess hand pie, I just don’t get whipped into a frenzy over pie making. You cut the pie dough like cinnamon rolls and then re-roll it out. I also prefer everything to be in mini form, I just feel less guilty. Which is ironic because I tend to eat twice as much. I read a study once about the mini candy bars that the found … [Read more...]
The month of thanks…
I will start the month of thanks off by saying that I am super thankful for easy desserts. See I have a ganglion cyst in my right hand. 99% of the time it’s just there and doesn’t bother me. But every now and then it decides to move and sit on a nerve. That makes my whole hand up to my elbow go completely numb. Sometimes it last only hours sometimes for up to a week. I’m a few days in sadly. Very little baking and cooking…and no photography. Oh well. Luckily there are easy desserts, so easy I can make them left handed. :D This is an adaptation on a cake I LOVE. Dump Cake. You have to love a cake that you just dump stuff in. Though this version does require more work than the original. It’s soo yummy though. Think pumpkin pie meets cake. Don’t turn your nose up just because it uses cake mix. I have tried to recreate dump cake without using cake mix and is simply doesn’t work. Here’s to hoping my hand gets working soon so that I can get baking and get … [Read more...]
