One heck of a good sandwich….

Random Updates: *Finally got into the hand surgeon. The good news is I don’t have to have surgery. The bad news is that what they thought was wrong (ganglion cyst) is not what was wrong. And now my hand is numb and they are just shaking their head. So yay (insert sarcasm). It’s getting really old is all I know. And truthfully the only person who has helped me try and figure it out is my physical therapist who actually gave a good explanation and showed me on the iPad why it is most likely numb. He did that for free because he is nice. I got charged $795 to be told by a specialist gee I’m not sure. *MDP turns 40 in a couple weeks and I need to find something special to do for that. It’s going to be hard to top my 40th birthday party (which was a hockey tournament in my honor). And I need to figure out what kind of cake to make. *Speaking of cake…I need to get practicing back on my wedding cake skills. They are still lacking greatly. The no feeling in the hand though … [Read more...]

Spike up your Holidays…

So we are down to the wire. For me Christmas is tomorrow night. So tonight is our Christmas Eve. One thing I have started to go to is hot chocolate in a crock pot. No hot chocolate is not hard to make but it’s nice to have it being kept warm in the crock pot all day and just being available when the cocoa mood strikes…and this time of year it strikes often. Just set out a few types of hot chocolate and keep some frozen whipped cream circles in the freezer and you are good to go. I was sent Holiday Slow Cooker: A Year of Hassle-Free Celebrations and while it’s not a Christmas book (it’s holidays throughout the year) I did go searching for Christmas type recipes. Found a Bailey’s cocoa recipe and decided to make it with Peppermint Schnapps since I am a peppermint cocoa kind of gal. Of course the booze is added later and so the cocoa is for everyone. And you can add just about any booze you want…and depending on what relatives show you might be drinking a lot and I mean A … [Read more...]

Ninja like….

I never thought I wanted a slow cooker as that was the lazy cooks way out (ha!) but one day my mother asked me if I wanted one. I said okay I guess picturing myself using it to heat meatballs and little Smokies for parties. Little did I know I would make about half my meals in one now! So back in August when I went to the International Food Bloggers Conference in Portland they had this luncheon that was sponsored by Ninja. I wasn’t even really going to go until I caught wind that they were going to give away a Ninja Cooking System (they said like a slow cooker). So I figured go see what it was about and watched in awe at all the things they said it could do. What can it do? Slow Cooking. You can use this like a regular slow cooker with low, medium and high options and a digital timer. Stove Top. Use the Ninja like a regular stove top with a low, medium or high setting. Great option for searing meats before slow cooking them. Which is what I did for this recipe!!! Oven. … [Read more...]

Copy That Ghost Rider…

So amongst the nice well wishes this week I did get a scathing 14 paragraph (yes, 14) email about how ridiculous it is that I run my (FREE to YOU) blog and don’t have a print recipe button for all of my recipes. This is not a new complaint to me and when the site got redone I added a print recipe button. When I first started my blog 7 years ago that wasn’t an option. It’s added now and the newer recipes have it. I will when I have time (so possibly never :P ) go back and add it to the old recipes. In the time the person took to write the 14 paragraphs to me they could have Googled how to get the recipe off my site. You might have heard of it…it’s called Copy and Paste. If you haven’t heard of it…Google it and it will change your life. I promise. With sprinkles on top. But in all seriousness people…copy and paste. It will take you about 30 seconds…less if you are quicker…longer if you are my mother (love you mom). None the less it’s not THAT big of a pain. … [Read more...]
