What a week….

Ahhh, I missed my little blog. This has been one crazy week last week and not really in a great way. First and most mind consuming is that my sweet pup is sick. So an emergency trip to the vet was in order…except I can’t drive so that became quite an ordeal that is a story for another time as I have no energy at all. She is doing better but I still worry. :( I got many an email asking about how the foot is doing…in a nutshell…not good. I was told to rest and put my foot up until I went back to the Ortho next Friday. I have done none of that. And as of a result I am paying the price. I am quite sure the Ortho will yell at me and tell me I’m not healing and it is numb up to the knee cap most of the time. :S Bad Peabody. I miss getting to do normal things like oh say DRIVE. Stand for more than 30 minutes. Baking things complicated (like practicing wedding cakes!) hence today’s recipe. Apple a day….

Apple made their big iPhone 5 announcement today and while I will probably drink the Koolaid so to speak as my phone is up for renewal I am unhappy about one thing. My phone case. I love my phone case. It came from Japan from a friend. It’s Hello Kitty and I love it for the fact that it’s cute and the fact that it drives MDP crazy that almost everywhere we go someone compliments me on it. Yes this is clearly #whitegirlproblems that mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. :P Other #whitegirlproblems this week were the ladies complaining that the snack bar at soccer yesterday didn’t have premium coffee. Umm. Or the woman complaining that her husband bought her yoga pants from Costco instead of Lululemon. How dare he! Maybe he was trying to hint to you that you didn’t need $120 yoga pants for yoga that you don’t go to. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are out…and that means their waistline will expand. You could just not go. Cruel Irony….

I’m being a cheater today. Or at least I thought I was until I realized…hey I created Way Back Wednesdays a while ago! Yay, I am only half cheating. :) And is it really cheating when I am on crutches and can’t stand up to bake? I think not. But truthfully I just couldn’t stand not to blog and well that doesn’t happen all that much lately. I guess that’s the sign of a good conference and the sign of getting to meet a lot of wonderful people over the weekend. People who gathered to talk about food, eat food, and do all things food with others that loved it. It reminded me why I blog in the first place. I love food. I love sharing my love of food. I love talking to others about food. And I love knowing I’m not alone in my love of food! You call that a salad…

I went to a potluck in the south once and looked down at a concoction that I had not seen before. And the woman next to me said “oh that’s salad” and I said “it has Snickers in it” and she said “yes, it’s Snicker Apple Salad”. Oh well of course. I put Snickers in all of my salads…don’t you? I thought she was crazy until I ate it. Apples. Good. Snickers. Good. Whipped Cream. Good. Back in those days that’s all they put in the salad. I guess if Waldorf can be a salad and that Strawberry Pretzel thing…this can too. I have been craving apple pie like crazy lately. I’ve tried to ignore it almost breaking down and eating a Hostess apple pie when I got gas the other day (don’t judge) but I clearly needed to feed the apple pie beast within me. Since I tend to do things with a twist on here I decided to do a twist on the salad into tart form. And gotta say yum! Now it’s not apple pie-y apple pie but it’s good all the same.
