Every Thing is Better with Bacon….

Seriously these make no sense and are in no order except for the first one the first one rules our life currently. *This week is brought to you by the phrase: You can’t bleed a turnip. *Reminder: I am not home all day sitting on the computer waiting for you to email me with a question. So demanding immediate response because you are in the middle of making it probably isn’t going to happen. Also, my blog will be 8 years old this year (wow) and my memory is not as good as it used to be so try not to get mad at me when you ask about a recipe from 2007 that I don’t remember if it made 24 or 28 cupcakes. *Speaking of that I rarely put serving sizes on this blog. You know why…because that means something different for everyone. Only on cupcakes…and even then if you tend to over fill you won’t get the right amount. Almost everything I make tends to be one serving…sometimes two. ;) *Lesson learned: The worst time to realize that you haven’t eaten all day is when … [Read more...]

Pull it together…

So I had planned on writing some great post and that didn’t happen. Instead I went to work on a project for Tablespoon but clearly didn’t not think things through because I needed to open a jar of jam. Which sounds harmless enough except that it’s like THE number one thing I can’t do with my hand and I learned I have not mastered opening with the left hand. So for 40 minutes I attempted to open a jar (don’t worry MDP is already going an buying me an opener) and even though I finally got it open when I went to get the loaf pans and they weren’t there I just sort of sunk to the kitchen floor and bawled my eyes out (the loaf pans were not there because MDP was being a helper and washed them and put them away…just not where they go. :) I’m sure some of you can relate to that). The dog came and licked me and gave me the “hey crazy crying lady you are going to give me a snack later for being nice right?” And with that I heard my mother’s voice in my head saying … [Read more...]

Philly Take One….

On Tuesdays and Thursdays we usually take MDP’s daughter to soccer practice. It’s an hour and a half long and so we have time to kill. Tuesdays is our date night and after dropping her off we go to happy hour to take advantage of the cheap eats. We have a blended family counselor to mostly help with transitions and the difficulties that come with those transitions but we also work on our own relationship. One of the exercises the counselor has us do on our date night is to ask 5 questions. Sometimes we have to make them up and sometimes they are given prompts. One of our prompt questions quite a while back was if you could go anywhere in the US for vacation where would you go and why? His answer surprised me. For normally MDP automatically says he doesn’t know and then thinks about it and comes up with an answer. But this time he answered right away. He wanted to fly to Philly to see a Flyers game. I immediately came home and started a Philly Trip budget. I had planned to … [Read more...]

Chocolate or Bacon that is the question….

First off I want to give a big thank you to those who donated so far to this week’s unexciting but needed telethon (don’t worry I am stopping any and all bugging on Saturday and won’t ask for a year). :) I know a lot of you don’t believe me but I truly mean it when I say that I appreciate any amount you give. The dollar donations are just as meaningful as any larger amount. There are more than enough times in my life where a dollar was a precious thing and I get it…especially the single moms/dads and starving students out there. As well as anyone who has been hit hard with the economy. We were having a discussion on my FB page the other day about if you had to be allergic to either chocolate or bacon which and therefore could never have it again, which would you chose? BTW- if you are not a fan of the FB page you are missing out on life shattering discussions such as these. :P Most people said they couldn’t give up chocolate. I couldn’t give up bacon. Milk chocolate is … [Read more...]
