Rise and Moonshine….

One of my goalies from years ago was really into making Apple Pie Moonshine. He used to bring it to us in jars when it was his turn for team “snack”. I miss having him as a goalie. :) So when I was reading Bon Appetit magazine and ran across a recipe for “moonshine” I was intrigued…especially since it was in a reputable magazine. This time it was for Peach “Moonshine”. It’s not really moonshine in the traditional sense. I haven’t made a still or anything. Just a bunch of vodka, some canned peaches, and some dried peaches and some time. Then after a week I funneled it back into a bottle. It smelled kind of peachy but it definitely smelled stronger than when I made it. :P Knowing that I am wimp when it comes to hard liquor I knew I needed to add stuff to it to drink it down. And boy can you drink it down with this recipe. We had a BBQ on Sunday and made a few batches of this. It’s definitely something that hits you all of a sudden. Kind of like the first time I … [Read more...]

Kids don’t sell this on the corner….

I’m really starting to embrace the idea of cocktails on my blog…it certainly has made afternoon laundry time far more fun! Oh who am I kidding…I’m not doing laundry but I was thinking about doing it (and it’s the thought that counts…right up to the point where you don’t have clean underwear). :P While some people are getting slammed with snow as of late we have been on a warming trend and the yellow ball called the sun has actually been visiting the Seattle area (perhaps it’s on vacation). If the sun is out I either want ice tea or limeade (I like lemonade too but I really like limeade). And since it’s tax time…I want my limeade to be spiked. :) Key lime is one of my favorite flavors in life so I figured I would make a key lime-limeade this time around. Other than the not so awesome task of juice little tiny limes it was the way to go. I love the extra little kick of tart that it adds. And when you add the Key Lime Pie Vodka (yes it’s a real thing…and … [Read more...]

Tequila….

First off it’s National Margarita Day! Second off to the 41 people who sent me hate mail yesterday you need this drink more than me. Sorry to those that I spoiled PART ONE of the finales to Top Chef Seattle. Bravo pays me to discuss the show. I have to do it in a certain amount of time. I’m sorry you didn’t get to watch it on your DVR yet (remember to good old days when you missed a show and just missed it). I found out about who was out before I watched it on FB. Oh well. I didn’t go off on the person. I still watched the episode to see WHY people were in or out. But I certainly did enjoy “I hope something really important in your life gets fucked up” and “thanks for ruining my weekend” or how about “ hey dumb bitch, next time put spoiler on your site”. So I’m just going to go there and say its reality TV and if you are that attached to it then you might want to rethink your priorities in life. I wrote it late at night after I stayed up to watch the show. I … [Read more...]

Today while watching some business leadership videos that the UW puts out, they were interviewing the former CEO of Starbucks.
