Hose me down Mr. Fireman….

Today's Way Back Wednesday comes from February 2009. It's a bread pudding which I love with a twist. I know shocking that I would have a twist! Banana's Fosters incorporated into a bread pudding turns out to be a really tasty idea. Again, I kept the original story since it's about firefighters...and their hotness. So I finally realized why firefighters get laid so often...including the non-attractive ones. So besides the quality high school kids, my gym seems to be the home of our local firemen. I see them working out their often, usually in the weight room. Usually it is the younger, more in shape guys as well. Nice eye candy and all but, and here is where it is a flameful confession...firemen don't do it for me. I mean, sure, if they were cute to begin with that is another story. But I can't tell you how many times my friends would be dating a guy that I thought, ugh, really, only to find out they were dating him because he was a fireman. I just never got it...at all. Until … [Read more...]

Striking a chord…

When I was going through my divorce I could have sworn that Sirius radio was out to get me. It seemed like every time I got into the car they were playing Third Eye Blind’s song “How’s It Gonna Be”. And stupid me would always listen to it and then proceed to bawl my eyes out. Now of course if that song was on the radio a year before my divorce I would have cared less, other than to go, oh I love that song and listen to it. But because I was going through something it struck a chord and would upset me. Which is often what this blog does to people, it strikes chord. I can assure you if you are a long time reader at some point I am going to strike a chord with you…it’s inevitable. I can’t tell you how many times friends or acquaintances email or call me to ask if my latest post was about them? It usually isn’t. But what it does show is that they are usually guilty about something. Guilty about lying and how they live their life. Guilty about spending money they don’t … [Read more...]

Life is…

When I taught middle school, above my desk was a sign that read “Life is ten percent of what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”. Truer words could not be spoken. Far too often people feel victimized about what has been done to them. My friends C and T got stuck once in Omaha due to weather. They were supposed to be getting on to a connecting flight to Florida to go on a cruise. T (the wife) freaked out. Calling and having what C described as a melt down and tantrum because the world was against her. Well, Mother Nature might have been but not the world. C on the other hand told T this was an opportunity to explore a place they had never been to. C had once been offered a job in Omaha and turned it down, always wondering if he should have taken it or not. After spending the day there, he was quite happy in his decision to not move there. But without the opportunity he never would have known. They caught a plane the next day, and then another plane that flew them to the … [Read more...]

Panera’s Asiago Cheese Bread…as a pudding…

So you spoke and unlike a politician…I listened. :P When I asked what you loved at Panera Bread a ton of you said that you were all about the Panera Asiago Cheese Bread, which I had never tried. So last week I headed there for my bowl of French Onion like I always have and to buy some of that bread. I also deviated and got festive, going with the Easter egg shortbread cookie instead of my go to Cobblestone. I had planned on just making it into bread pudding so I cut into it to help it get stale quicker. My bff  asked what was going on with the bread. I explained and he looked sad and asked why we didn’t just get to eat it. He wanted to eat it. So I told him that we could try a piece. Well, 5 minutes later and I only had a half a loaf left to work with. :) So that inspired a side dish for two. :D So I cut the remaining bread into cubes and hid them from a certain hockey player in hopes I would actually get to make the bread pudding. For the record, I totally get where you … [Read more...]
