May the Funfetti be with you….

We had a CRAZY busy weekend this weekend. Friday was MDP’s 40th birthday. The skids came over and we took him to our new favorite place to eat and inhaled food (I had the Peanut Butter Bacon Burger which may sound gross to you but is totally awesome). Then we were off to hockey to burn that burger off. :) Saturday was of course Groundhog’s Day which if you are a long time follower of this blog you know it’s my favorite holiday of all time. So I got my well wishes and had my traditional sprinkle donut and Chinese food. We also very excitingly got to run errands and took in 9 year old basketball. Sunday while everyone else was getting excited about football we went and played an hour and 45 minutes of pick up hockey and then off to a Super Bowl Party. I didn’t spend any time watching the game. I mostly chatted people’s ears off especially the guy who was named after Star Wars! His sister too. That is so what would have happened to my kids. He couldn’t dispute my genuine … [Read more...]

She had the best abs ever, she will be missed…

“Are you happy with your life?” “Are you in the best shape you want to be?” While sitting waiting for allergy shots (you have to sit around for 30 minutes after you get them waiting to see if there is a reaction) these two questions were posed to me by the very “fit” woman next to me (I’m sure she has six pack abs which she can keep by the way). I turned to her and said “excuse me?” and could feel the sales pitch coming on. She went on to tell me how she was a life coach and wondered if I felt I could use her services. First off don’t get me started on life coaches. There is no qualification to be a life coach…though I am sure nowadays there is an online degree for it somewhere. She didn’t seem to accept my answer that yes I was happy with my life and that while I was not in the best shape I wanted to be I was in the best shape of where I could be today. She piped in with surely there were things I wanted to change and I said of course. But that for right … [Read more...]

Hey mister can you spare a dollar….

I’m doing something unlike me. I’m going to host my own telethon, ala PBS style. Well I won’t host, let’s have Crazy Cocker Spaniel host…her eyes are far more convincing. See…those eyes are hard to resist. I figure I will do this once a year. For some people this is a good time of year and you get some money back for the good old IRS, or sadly some of you like me owe the old IRS. My ad agency seems to think I can live off of $45, they are wrong. FYI, that’s for the month, not a day or week or anything. A month. And while as a general rule I love writing this blog, after the divorce it’s supposed to be a source of income and not to toot my own horn but I think I do more than $45 worth of work a month. So if you can spare a dollar, literally a dollar, I would greatly appreciate it (the donate button is on the right hand side there where it says Donate). If not I don’t really care either, I still love you anyway. But it never hurts to ask. :) So if I have … [Read more...]

Poking fun at yourself…

Just as I suspected I did anger a few runners out there…though interestingly enough, not the people that are long time runners…most likely proving my point. :P But moving on. To show that I am a good sport and that people are way too serious I will now tell you what is wrong with hockey players. 1. They smell. No, I mean smell. The gear in most people’s bag smells so bad that when opened in a room it will usually strip the paint off the walls. Since they wear this gear, it rubs off on them. And though they shower, no matter how hard they try, you cannot get the glove smell off our hands. If you are a hockey player or live with one, you get used to the smell, most people, just like the truth…can’t handle it. :) 2. They get fatter once they move to recreational hockey. Well not all of them, but some of them. When in competitive hockey you tend to be young (unless you are a Red Wing), working out all the time, and eating fairly good. When you move to competitive hockey you … [Read more...]
