Welcome April…

banana fosters pound cake

Hello April! You arrived so very quickly. Things I learned in March: *I have amazing and generous friends who were there for me when I needed it so very badly this last month. And what is best about them is they all do it from their heart with no expectation of things in return. But as I was told by quite a few of them that is how I treat them so they learned from me. Which made me swell up a little…okay, a lot. *I learned a new way to call someone fat. I was lucky enough to learn that I certainly “don’t go without” when it comes to food. Yep. I like me some food. I also played and hour and 15 minutes of hockey on Friday night and two hours on Saturday night (my knee hates me for this). I’m also not insecure enough to imply that someone is fat because I am fine with who I am. *Speaking of fattening, MDP and I have an unnatural love of the Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza from Papa Murphy’s…mostly because of the ketchup/mustard sauce they use instead of pizza sauce and … [Read more...]

*My Zumba dancing is so bad that it made my neighbors move. Or at least that is what I secretly hope. I do stomp extra loud for them. Now before you feel sorry for them know that they smoke out on their patio and we live in a completely smoke free place…not even parking lot. And from 8 am to 10pm daily they play their music so loud my floor vibrates (hence my Zumba retaliation). *I may turn into a jelly bean I have eaten sooo many lately. If possible I think I ate my weight in them this week and going to two of me. :) Seriously, someone hide them from me. It’s very bad that Easter is around the corner. *I have an urge to buy a cookbook anyone have a good suggestion for one? *People like some seriously ugly stuff on Pinterest. *Oreo came out with a Birthday Cake Oreo. I have heard mixed reviews…but that won’t stop me from trying. *Being back to hockey is so nice. My arm isn’t 100% but it’s not bothered during hockey. Plus this girl got a new stick for … [Read more...]

Now that’s a Peanut Butter Cup…

This fun cake comes from October 2007! Some days it’s hard for me to believe that I had a blog that long ago or should I say still have a blog. I go through phases where I wonder if should keep doing it. And I always come back to continuing the blog. Definitely been having writers block, and combine that with the fact that people only comment nowadays on controversially posts only makes it hard to want to keep on putting effort in. No worries though, whenever I think I am going to stop I keep going. I’m sure I will keep going just like I always do. I won’t even threaten to take time off as every time I say that I rush out and do a bunch of posts. :) The cake is an adaptation of this peanut butter chocolate chip cake I made a year or so ago, the difference being the use of the peanut butter chips. The other difference is the use of my mini(4-inch diameter) tart pans. I used those to give the cake a more peanut butter cup look. If you get too much rise on your cake you can … [Read more...]

Going bananas…

So you probably thought I took another vacation! :) Nope, just recovering from my vacation. Seems like for every day I am gone, I need two days to recover. :P But the laundry is finally done. My family birthdays always seem to fall around major holidays. My mother’s is around Mother’s Day and often falls on it from time to time. My brother is the day before Halloween. Mine sits between Canada Day and 4th of July and my dad’s falls around Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus Day. Luckily for us, only my mom gets screwed with the double gift. :D The Happy Birthday/Mother’s Day combo package. My dad’s birthday is Wednesday. As you can tell from the photo bellow my dad is withering away in his old age and spending his time in his rocking chair. Well he does do some of that. He certainly naps a little more these days…but then again so do I. :P It’s weird when your parents get older. They always seem to be a certain age to me or when I think of them I think of them at a … [Read more...]
