Soon To Be Chubby Hubby…

chubbyhubbytruffle

One thing MDP gets asked all the time is “how do you not weigh 600 pounds?” Especially after they eat something I have made or they visit this website. :)What can I say…I like food. He does too. It’s one of the things we have in common (which there are a ton more than that obviously). But we do work out and we don’t sit around and eat they entire plate of cookies (though that depends on the cookie). MDP and I know we will never be skinny…and we have no desire to be. Besides needing a little cushion for the pushing ;) we just like food way too much. So when I was on Pinterest going through things I had pinned I saw a recipe for Chubby Hubby Truffles and decided I needed to make them. Mine are a little different in the fact that I stick to more of what the ice cream flavor is like….which is MALTED vanilla ice cream with chocolate covered peanut butter filled pretzels and ribbons of peanut butter. So I added malted milk to mine and added a ribbon of peanut butter to … [Read more...]

Size matters…

peppermintmarshmallow2

It has been a chilly one as of late. Which normally I love though watching MDP’s poor step son out playing goalie on grass that was still covered in frost was kind of sad….and he has an even earlier game next week. Yikes. Those kids all looked so cold. And while they get fruit snacks and cookies after the game we should probably be pumping hot chocolate into them. Growing up (and well as an adult now) I was one of those that loved the marshmallows and the whipped cream far more than the actual hot chocolate itself. I always keep refilling my marshmallows or whipped cream as the cocoa cup would dwindle. That’s the best part. Why not just eat a handful of marshmallows? Because it’s not the same and you know it. :) Since I am pro marshmallow I figured for my first batch of marshmallows for the season (I make them all winter long) I would go BIG and peppermint since I really kind of want it to be Christmas already (don’t shoot me). Marshmallows at home scare people. If you … [Read more...]

Twelve years ago…

lollipops

I don’t think much about my mother’s cancer these days. Once a year when getting my boobs squashed is about when I think of it. Well more like the waiting around to hear if I need to come back for anything. See my mom found out through a mammogram twelve years ago that she had breast cancer. Twelve years ago a lot of things changed. Twelve years ago my mother told cancer to go f&%* itself. Twelve years ago my mother decided to make it a positive in her life instead of a negative. Twelve years ago my mother became more of an amazing person than I already thought she was…and that’s hard to do. Twelve years ago my mother became my hero. It’s funny what memories we keep from childhood. Mine is bubble gum ice cream. I loved the stuff (though when I eat it now I have no idea why). But I would always laugh because my mother would be beyond disgusted at how we would all spit our gums balls out of the ice cream and save them for later. Which in retrospect was a horrible idea … [Read more...]

That’s what friends are for…

snickerdoodletruffle2

Left in the comments by one of my most favorite people of all time was a request for more snickerdoodle stuff. So since I do big puffy heart her I am going to oblige her. That and it’s not too hard to convince me to make something snickerdoodle flavored (twist my arm). It’s funny that the vast majority of people who I adore and have been positive influences in my life (with the exception of my hockey peeps…MDP included) have all come as a result of this blog. If nothing else ever comes from me having this blog, the friendships that I have made from it have made any amount of time spent keeping this blog a float all worthwhile. It’s even is worth all the caramel burns. :) They (whoever THEY are) say that the Internet often isolates and keeps people from having real life relationships. I can see that in some ways. I think what is nice about the Internet is the fact that it allows me to search out and find people who I have things in common with or are just good peeps that I … [Read more...]
