Play Up Dessert with Oreo…

If you look almost anywhere on my site you will see my love of Oreo’s in all forms. So when Kitchen PLAY asked if I wanted to make a Halloween recipe using Oreo’s it was pretty much a no-brainer. I throw Oreo’s in just about everything from Rice Krispie Treats to ice cream to brownie bars to cheesecake. And my favorite way to make cheesecake…mini with an Oreo cookie as the crust. I had wanted to make something using the Halloween Oreo’s (not to be confused with the Candy Corn Oreo’s that I loved) but couldn’t find them. So I went with a mix of Golden (my favorite) and classic Oreo. And to make things a little more festive I made my Oreo’s into skeleton heads. And you get a chance to show Kitchen PLAY and Oreo what you can make with Oreo’s. That’s right… Kitchen PLAY is giving away two OREO Halloween prize packs filled with goodies like: a spider spatula and apron, pumpkin cupcake holders, a Halloween serving dish, Halloween sprinkles and of course, Halloween … [Read more...]

Cheesecake, eh?

When my brother was in high school he worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken as it was called back then (you know it as the oh so hip and cool KFC now). Every night he worked he would come home smelling like chicken grease. So much so that after two years of working there he kind of couldn’t eat chicken anymore. So when I went to work in a bakery and they said what would you like to work on? I said cheesecake. I had this great idea that cheesecake (which I loved so much) would become my fried chicken and I would stop wanting to eat it so much. Yeah, so that didn’t work so much. In fact all it did was make me much better at making cheesecake. And I got in charge of making the flavor of the month cheesecake. The pumpkin swirl was one of my first. I highlighted it when this blog first started and thought I would update it a bit with some salted caramel. Last week we got on the subject of the Cheesecake Factory and then the mini Candy Corn Cheesecake Bites I had made at JV Soccer last … [Read more...]

Oh Me So Corny…

Just last week I saw a bumper sticker that read “Fair: It’s where you get cotton candy at…not what life is”. Ah the irony. :) I first off want to say thanks to the large number of people who contacted me to say hope things come around. Thanks. They will. I’m sure of it. Some asked how they could help. Well number one keep reading the blog. :) Maybe comment. Maybe donate to buy ingredients though I will admit that what you donate this week might go to beer and/or vodka :P. Follow me on Pinterest or Facebook or Twitter, it makes me feel extra loved. The good news is of course is that I have many amazing things in my life that make it so meaningful. I don’t gush a lot about MDP on here but I should. His mom who recently moved back to town told me the other day that the more time she spends with me the more and more she realizes that I really am the most perfect fit for her son ever. That she is amazed by it. So that really made me happy to hear. And you’ve got to love … [Read more...]

Cruel Irony….

I’m being a cheater today. Or at least I thought I was until I realized…hey I created Way Back Wednesdays a while ago! Yay, I am only half cheating. :) And is it really cheating when I am on crutches and can’t stand up to bake? I think not. But truthfully I just couldn’t stand not to blog and well that doesn’t happen all that much lately. I guess that’s the sign of a good conference and the sign of getting to meet a lot of wonderful people over the weekend. People who gathered to talk about food, eat food, and do all things food with others that loved it. It reminded me why I blog in the first place. I love food. I love sharing my love of food. I love talking to others about food. And I love knowing I’m not alone in my love of food! I chose this cheesecake because number one I’ve been putting together an all things Fall pin board on Pinterest that highlights some of my favorite Fall recipes from this blog. And I ran across this beauty. It’s from back in the day … [Read more...]
