Raisins? What Raisins?

Some of you saw on FB my yummy looking French Toast we made yesterday for the kids. Funny story: I kept telling everyone that I had made Cinnamon Raisin Brioche…because I thought I had. Until I sliced it open only to realize that I did not make Cinnamon Raisin Brioche just Cinnamon Swirl Brioche. Oops. So I quickly scanned the kitchen and sure enough over in the corner was the little bowl of raisins all measured out. :) Dear mind…where have you gone? Please come back. Nonetheless that was some serious insanely good French toast and totally worth me making the bread for it. And yes, I made the bread purposefully just to be made into French toast. MDP thinks it’s cool and slightly mental all at the same time that I do things like that. If baking bread purposefully for French toast is the most crazy thing I do I think we are all doing alright. And of course to make it better for us we made sure to use heavy cream instead of milk in our French toast egg batter. :P I had a crazy … [Read more...]

A Day Late and…

I always seem to be a day behind on everything. Heck when I found out that Ryan Reynolds just married Blake Lively I was like when were they dating? I try not to follow what Ryan is doing because it was my understanding that while I am getting married Ryan was to be staying at home pining away for me never to love another. I was quite sure he was sitting there day in and day out crying and making a voodoo doll of my fiancé. So imagine my surprise when I read that he had gotten married. And when I looked it up they had been dating for quite some time. And just today when looking up how to spell Blake Lively I found out that Blake is pregnant and it’s Ryan’s. Umm, Ryan, we need to talk. You are not living up to your part of the bargain here buddy. :) Another thing I was behind on was National Coffee Day. It was yesterday. I saw it on Twitter. I live in the city of the perpetual buzz I kind of needed to celebrate National Coffee Day. So while a day late I decided to make something … [Read more...]

Life is beyond busy as of late. I’m kind of scatterbrained a bit trying to get it all done. Case in point, my recent Amazon.com purchase. Now I don’t buy cookbooks very often anymore. I have to really, really want it before I fork over the money as I no longer have a monthly cookbook budget like I used to (yes, I really used to have one). But I was given a gift card and went looking for cookbooks. I will admit that I am not impressed with most of the cookbooks currently out. I was supposed to receive a copy of SprinkleBakes: Dessert Recipes to Inspire Your Inner Artist but still haven’t gotten that. I did get a copy of Savory Sweet Life: 100 Simply Delicious Recipes for Every Family Occasion which I love and will tell you about at another time. But over all I’m not loving and or needing any cookbook out there right now. Too many single subject books which I am not that big of a fan of to be honest. Not to say that there are not some good ones, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at … [Read more...]

When I went a few years ago to a Food Blogger Conference I was in awe of how many people told me I was just like I was on my blog. This didn’t make any sense to me as of course I was like how I was on my blog, it’s my blog. Until I started to mingle with other people. People who’s blogs I read and realized that many of them in real life are much quieter in person and reserved compared to their blogs. In a way their blog is their way of letting out their inner extrovert. This was facsinating to me but also a good lesson. It’s a good lesson to remember if you follow me on Pinterest. Let’s review a few emails involving Pinterest. I’m just posting this one but I can assure you that this question gets asked A LOT: “This comes from a place of love even if it’s nosey. I follow you on Pinterest and you pin bunches and bunches of wedding dresses, are you getting married? Oh please say yes, I would love for you to be getting married and be happy.” First off, I do … [Read more...]
