So I was thinking I need a fundraiser for my blog. So I think I am going to get married ala Kim Kardashian style. I highly doubt that I can get the E! Network to sponsor that. Number one my intelligence level is too high for them, and number 2 I’m simply not that exciting. Not that I think the Kardashians are exciting. It’s one of the shows I feel dumber just watching a few minutes of. I’m not judging, I felt that way about the first two seasons of The Girls Next Door and watched that show (hangs head in shame). Anyway, I figure I need to find me an NHL player. I wanted to marry Cal Clutterbuck of the Wild just because of his last name, but he up and got married on me so there went that plan. I figure if I am going to make super bank like Kim I need to marry Sidney Crosby or somebody who can get butts in the seats. But I don’t think my odds are too good with that. So I will go for Danny Briere who has been divorced long enough now that maybe he is ready to fake settle down … [Read more...]

Halloween Family Fun with McCormick…

October is here and I have some kid friendly recipes to help your family celebrate the upcoming Halloween season all thanks to McCormick. I’m highlighting two recipes that you can make with your kids. One that is a little “younger” kid friendly (the Pumpkin Sugar Cookies) and one for your older kids to have fun with (Ghostly Halloween Cupcakes). I was excited to learn that McCormick® makes a black food coloring. In the past whenever I have tried black food coloring it always came out a weird purple color, but as you can clearly see from my cupcakes, their black food coloring is indeed black! That’s a rare and cool find. And if you don’t need black food coloring, McCormick® also has Assorted Food Colors that can be combined to come up with just about any color combination to make your Halloween treats more colorful and festive! I combined their yellow and red food coloring to make orange a vivid orange for the pumpkin cookies. I used cookie and cake mix to make it … [Read more...]

Rolling with it….

After my wedding was over and my vendors sent out their thank you notes for hiring them and a congrats for getting married kind of thing, I noticed a pattern in those notes. It was thanks for being one of the easiest going brides I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I was/am low key, I gave people ideas and in my opinion they did better than what I would have come up with so I would tell them great. And they would panic and say are you sure and I would be like yep looks great. In fact for my florist who as a friend just starting out gave total control to. I told her how much I had to spend and the colors of the wedding. Since I agreed to allow her to do whatever she gave them to me at cost. The only thing I wanted was pink peonies for my bouquet which was the most costly thing due to being out of season. Because I trusted her to do what she needed to do, she put together lush and gorgeous floral arrangements that truthfully would have cost thousands of dollars if it were … [Read more...]

Just cookies…

I’ve said before and I will say it again, sometimes running a food blog is kind of a drag. Why you ask? Because no matter where you go people expect you to make something spectacular or they want whatever was just up on your blog. Usually, when something makes it up on the blog, it is long gone. This is more so in the fall/winter months when I get into baking frenzies but sometimes the spring/summer months as well. So of course when I showed up to a friend’s party with cookies in my hand I heard “Just cookies? All you brought were cookies?” Why yes dear friend (more like acquaintance) who told me “don’t bring a thing” to your party, who when I last brought a cake you have YET to return the cake plate, who had nothing but store bought food at the party….YES all I brought were cookies. Suck it up. My budget doesn’t allow for elaborate creations and last I checked most people like cookies. In fact most people do. I am sorry that my sad little cookies, which by the … [Read more...]
