What the future holds…

Butterfinger Cream Cheese Banana Muffin

First off if you haven’t claimed your prize please check yesterday’s post to see if you won! I still have 4 unclaimed prizes. Plus you should probably just read yesterday’s post anyway. :) Yesterday I sat at one of the many 8th grade promotion ceremonies I have attended in my lifetime. My own of course. The ones I had to attend as an 8th grade teacher. And the one last night. It was warm, packed with proud parents and bored siblings, dressed up like Hawaii on steroids (there was a Ride the Wave to High School Theme), and of course filled with 8th graders with eager and nervous smiles, who most could pass for adults with how they looked. Of course for most of them in four years they will be legal adults. They may not act like adults but neither do some 38 year olds I know. :P A lot will change for them in the years ahead. Heck, just as the slide show last night showed, a lot had changed in the three years at middle school. Going into high school I was dead set on being a … [Read more...]

The healing powers of snickerdoodles…

Why are some people so awesome and other people bring suck ass to a new level? Seriously I just don’t get it. And what is even sadder is that it seems that the nice people always end up being trampled by the sucky people. Sometimes I really believe no good deed goes unpunished. :( One of the nice people of the world, my mom, is down and out for a little bit as she recovers from her hernia surgery she had on Monday. It got me thinking about her and her favorite thing from my blog. My mom is who I get my love of all things snickerdoodles from. She loves and makes often my snickerdoodle blondies from back in 2009. So I thought I would remake them with a twist. We had a very fall day around here, I’m not sure we got out of the 50’s and we had lots of rain. It screamed bake something and so I did. And since I promised few people I would be doing a lot of pumpkin recipes on the blog I decided to throw in some pumpkin to these babies. Good stuff. They weren’t meant to swirl as … [Read more...]

Red, White, and…nope, that’s it….

Well I definitely got a variety of questions that is for sure but we will start with this one: “When blogging, have you ever put something there that you later regret? You seem so forward which makes you awesome to read but do the people in your life feel the same?” No. I have no regrets. I am who I am. And if you really go through and read my blog no one is mentioned by name other than me. Even my pets, which sadly answers the question to the person who asked as to what is my dogs real name. Sorry, I don’t do any real names on here…pets included. People either get a nickname or just “someone I know”. I tell stories sometimes about my parents but nothing too bad. And though I have two brothers they are hardly mentioned on here, and my nieces and nephews are off limits. They didn’t put themselves off limits I did. Many of the stories that are told on here, the person is asked ahead of time if it’s okay. Interestingly enough most of my friends volunteer info … [Read more...]

A little too fruitful…

Not sure why I thought that my roommate and I could eat Costco bananas, a ½ flat of raspberries, and 12 large peaches, but I did. It seemed so reasonable at the time, until of course I get it home. I know, I should freeze the raspberries, and I will, but there is very little space in the freezer so I have to do my best. I out and out ate a whole pint of raspberries yesterday. :) I have zero time to write but wanted something up. These are a take on cream cheese swirl blondies…though I don’t know why you bother to swirl as they are both the same color and you get very little contrast, but oh well. They taste good all the same. Do you fall victim to buying way more produce than you can possible eat before it spoils? Peaches and Cream Blondies 11 tablespoons (1 stick plus 3 tablespoons) unsalted butter, room temperature, plus more for pan (divided) 1 2/3 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup packed light-brown … [Read more...]
