Pick Me Up…

So today is a Way Back Wednesday today as in addition to going to the hand surgeon next Wednesday (limited cooking) I once again took a slap shot to the ankle on New Year’s Day. :) My Orthopedic loves me. Good news is that while it was the same ankle and hurts a whole bunch I’m like 93.674% sure it’s not fractured this time. It does however hurt to stand on (so again with the limited cooking). I am avoiding the gym for the next couple weeks anyway until it weeds out again so this is just helping me. :P Despite all that 2013 has actually started off rather well. I don’t really remember how 2012 started off but it really does seem like 2013 started off better. As tradition I don’t like to list all the things I’m going to accomplish in 2013 because come 2014 I come back and read this and then just get depressed learning that I didn’t organize my house like I thought I was going to…and then all my pinning would have gone to waste. So without further ado what 10 things … [Read more...]

Happy trees…

Growing up I loved watching Bob Ross on PBS…even as a teenager (did you know he was on for 31 seasons! That’s a lot of happy trees). So much so that I convinced my dad to get to use his oil paints (he used to paint). It’s not that I really every think I wanted to paint. I think it was that Bob Ross and his happy trees was just so darn happy that I thought maybe if I painted myself something in sky blue and Van Dyke brown my happiness would come too. It was probably just the paint fumes. :P Anyway I painted a variety of things…all landscape of course and I made what Bob Ross would call happy accidents a lot (as he would say “we don't make mistakes, we just have happy accidents”). My first ones were mostly blobs but my father hung them proudly and my mother followed along and hid them in the dark corners of the house. :) I wasn’t just randomly thinking of Bob Ross…yesterday he was on the Google page and several people “thought of me” when they saw it and asked … [Read more...]

If you’re happy and you know it eat a cupcake…

Just like everybody seemed to love Eat, Pray, Love and I did not…everyone seems to love the book The Happiness Project. I finally got it from the library and meh. I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m all for being happy but there is a common thread among the book (and movie) Eat, Pray, Love and the Happiness Project. Which is if you are unhappy with things take a risk and give it all up and go find yourself and do what you love. Well awesome. Except all these people that write these books had the money to go do this. In reading the book she focuses on the fact that if something say like laundry really makes you unhappy…hire out. Oh great idea. Or if you hate cleaning your house and it takes up your time hire a house keeper. Again, wow, why didn’t I think of that? Oh wait…I’m broke. That’s right. She does other exciting things were she learns how to file papers in file boxes instead of stacks and tries to come up with a hobby because she thinks she should have one. She … [Read more...]

Peep show…

My Facebook was lit up today with what could probably be called Easter Basket Confessions. Lists of all the candies that people had eaten and how horrible they were for eating them…blaming the Easter Bunny for bringing it. Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs apparently being the devil. After reading the morning confessions and people’s pledges to hit the gym hard to be punished for their Peep eating I turned on the TV. Not much was on and I left it on Eat, Pray, Love. I will confess that I read and disliked the book and I watched and disliked the movie (which is why it got turned off). Pretty much everyone (female…men thought it was crap) I know loved the LOVE section. For me the only tolerable part of it was Eat. If you have never traveled outside of the US then you probably think that other women constantly punish themselves for what they eat. And in my experiences most of the other countries (Canada excluded) have a much better relationship with food than that of people … [Read more...]
