No such thing as too much chocolate…

Ah Cyber Monday, how I love you. In a day and age filled with people not having to interact with each other, I especially appreciate it today. Gone are the days of standing in line outside the Wal-Mart all night to possibly be one of the three people who will get the $100 plasma TV, only to be trampled on. Now I can only virtually be trampled on. I no longer have to deal with playing tug of war over the last My Little Pony and have to listen to some woman go on and on about how her daughter really needs it…so do I woman, this one completes my set. :P No more dirty looks or being cut off or even tackled (I saw that once at a Target at 6am). Though Cyber Monday is not without its draw backs. Sure I get to shop in the comfort of my pajamas and robes, but so do most of the people shopping at Wal-Mart year round :P. But by the time I load my cart up and go to check out, half of the great deals that were there, are now gone. Someone had up and stole it from me and I didn’t get to … [Read more...]

Halloween Family Fun with McCormick…

October is here and I have some kid friendly recipes to help your family celebrate the upcoming Halloween season all thanks to McCormick. I’m highlighting two recipes that you can make with your kids. One that is a little “younger” kid friendly (the Pumpkin Sugar Cookies) and one for your older kids to have fun with (Ghostly Halloween Cupcakes). I was excited to learn that McCormick® makes a black food coloring. In the past whenever I have tried black food coloring it always came out a weird purple color, but as you can clearly see from my cupcakes, their black food coloring is indeed black! That’s a rare and cool find. And if you don’t need black food coloring, McCormick® also has Assorted Food Colors that can be combined to come up with just about any color combination to make your Halloween treats more colorful and festive! I combined their yellow and red food coloring to make orange a vivid orange for the pumpkin cookies. I used cookie and cake mix to make it … [Read more...]

Whip it…

Halloween stuff is everywhere right now and so you can’t help but start to get in the mood…though for the record Costco had out Christmas stuff and that did not put me in the mood for that holiday. People ask me what crazy things I am making for Halloween and I usually tell them nothing, which makes them sad so I decided this year to change that. You will really love what is going up Monday, super cute. I’ve already captured the Halloween spirit by buying candy, I am a sucker for all things mini and that’s all Halloween candy is (I especially love the mini gummy bears). And I of course buy candy corn. I planned on making these cupcakes three times now. It took the third time to make it happen since I ate the first two bags of candy corn before I successfully did not eat the third bag. :P At first I was going to make candy corn cookies but I couple people were already doing that and so I decided to go in a different direction. Last year I made candy corn ice cream by just … [Read more...]

Insert witty post here. Sorry I have been MIA busy weekend obviously and no real time now. So I will leave you with these. They were one of the original recipes on this blog back in 2006! And no this isn’t a Way Back as I remade them. I actually make them a lot. People and kids (in fact I had helpers make these…they get mixed by hand so that’s always good to get the kiddos involved with) alike love them. Hope everyone had as awesome of a holiday weekend as I did! Brownie Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting Cupcakes 6 TBSP (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, cut into 4 pieces 1 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips (about 8 ounces) 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped 1/2 cup (packed) golden brown sugar 1/3 cup sugar 2 large eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt Frosting: 1 cup powdered sugar 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter (do not use old-fashioned or freshly ground) 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature 1/4 … [Read more...]
