It wasn’t really a question so much as a statement so I will try to answer it, even though I’m guessing as to what they were actually asking: “The divorce/cash flow seems so out of sync with what you write.” I can only assume you mean that because I write about not spending money you don’t have then why don’t I have any money? Well first off when I was figuring out what I would need to live off of when my ex and I were no longer together this website was bringing in much more ad revenue and my budget was based on that. That ad agency joined with another one and I went to making about a 1/6th of what I was making when I made my budget. I switched to a new ad company which pays better than the last one but not nearly what I was making before. I substitute teach which is random money and no money in the summer. You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can’t….
There was a quote on Twitter the other day, which I was an idiot and didn’t favorite and now can’t find (go me!), but it basically said that you keep a lot of friends by lying and lose a lot of friends by telling the truth. What good is that? What good is having a bunch of people in your life who won’t tell you the truth or you can’t be yourself around? I often laugh at some people’s Facebook pages because they have a ton of friends on there. That’s not the funny part. The funny part is that they have collected all these people as friends I guess to prove to people they are popular. And yet when they post something maybe three or four people respond…and most of the time it’s the same couple people over and over again. Now granted I have quite a few hockey an food blogger friends that I don’t interact with all the time but I make sure I do at some point, otherwise I drop them. Spending what you don’t have…
I have a couple of people in my life I would like to run my hand across their face and slap some sense into them (I’m sure you do as well). But right now I mostly want to slap the people I know who are living above their means but then are complaining all the time that they don’t have the money to cover things…you know like rent. Even though as a general rule I don’t like summer and hot weather, I really don’t want it right now. Know why? I don’t have any shorts that fit. All the ones from last summer are a size smaller. Didn’t know I would be back on prednisone this last year and those are the breaks. Go buy some right? Don’t have anything in the budget to do that. Then my friends pipe in with just get a couple cheap pairs at Old Navy. Um, what part of not in budget do you not get? Even if they are $15 a pop, and I buy two pair, that’s $30…that I don’t have. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a food blogger…
“Dear Peabody- Ever consider becoming a super hero? -R” Surely this is something I ponder on a daily basis, as I am sure you my readers do as well. The short answer of course is no. Superheroes seem to think that Spanx is something you wear as an outfit and not as something you try and get your stomach at bay with. Besides all the real cool Superheroes are taken already. I mean the Wonder Twins…who doesn’t want to turn into ice? Or an osprey? Which I had to look that up as a kid to really know what the heck it was. So not only were they super, they were educational as well. Or how about Aquaman? Swim and then call animals to do things for you, as you yourself have no real powers. Nowadays the only job he could get is working for the Dog Whisperer. I’m not quite sure what my Superpower would be for that matter. Do you get to pick?
