Getting Dumped….

1. Next week I have jury duty (sense my excitement). For five days or for the length of a trial. I never get picked for trial. I never get picked. Ever (I’ve been summons 17 times). Never picked. Not once. My parents were both police officers. Someone in my immediate family was the victim of a violent crime. I was a rape victim counselor in college and according to my dad’s friend that worked in the DA office they never pick overly educated people (I have way too many useless Masters degrees). So look for me to be wasting a lot of time on Facebook, Pinsterest,  and Twitter next week as I sit in the jury waiting room. I just hope they have a plug somewhere! If not lots of reading. Which will make me more educated and then even less desirable…a vicious cycle I tell ya. :P 2. I’m jealous that Cookies and Cups, Bake at 350 and Confessions of a Cookbook Queen all had a bake with Candy Bar week and I missed out. Maybe they knew I have a problem with eating the candy before it … [Read more...]

Fat and Happy…

So you may recall years back my rabbit had a problem with his eye (in fact back then we focused so much on the eye we thought she was a girl like they told us). Anyway a few months back the eye started getting much worse and it spread through the eye quickly. Last time it cost $1000. I simply don’t have that this time to try and save the bunny. We told the kids that Little Fuzzy Bunny was probably going to the great carrot patch in the sky and that was okay because he lived a full life. And my theory was if he is going out why not go out fat and happy? So I fed him. And fed him. And fed him. He still is more than alive. He never has lost his appetite and he has double in size. Oops. But he is happy. He is one happy rabbit. :) And amazingly still alive. I often think if I only had a few weeks to live … [Read more...]

The month of thanks…

I will start the month of thanks off by saying that I am super thankful for easy desserts. See I have a ganglion cyst in my right hand. 99% of the time it’s just there and doesn’t bother me. But every now and then it decides to move and sit on a nerve. That makes my whole hand up to my elbow go completely numb. Sometimes it last only hours sometimes for up to a week. I’m a few days in sadly. Very little baking and cooking…and no photography. Oh well. Luckily there are easy desserts, so easy I can make them left handed. :D This is an adaptation on a cake I LOVE. Dump Cake. You have to love a cake that you just dump stuff in. Though this version does require more work than the original. It’s soo yummy though. Think pumpkin pie meets cake. Don’t turn your nose up just because it uses cake mix. I have tried to recreate dump cake without using cake mix and is simply doesn’t work. Here’s to hoping my hand gets working soon so that I can get baking and get … [Read more...]
