What a week….

Ahhh, I missed my little blog. This has been one crazy week last week and not really in a great way. First and most mind consuming is that my sweet pup is sick. So an emergency trip to the vet was in order…except I can’t drive so that became quite an ordeal that is a story for another time as I have no energy at all. She is doing better but I still worry. :( I got many an email asking about how the foot is doing…in a nutshell…not good. I was told to rest and put my foot up until I went back to the Ortho next Friday. I have done none of that. And as of a result I am paying the price. I am quite sure the Ortho will yell at me and tell me I’m not healing and it is numb up to the knee cap most of the time. :S Bad Peabody. I miss getting to do normal things like oh say DRIVE. Stand for more than 30 minutes. Baking things complicated (like practicing wedding cakes!) hence today’s recipe. The privilege of wearing a variety of clothing (I wear the same three pairs of … [Read more...]

All tied up…

These were too cute not to make. Though they are harder than they look. It's messy and the cookie likes to separate. But I was determined darn it all. They would be a fun addition to any Halloween party. Or if you just have a mummy fetish.   Oreo Mummy Pops Golden Double Stuff Oreos White Candy Melts Brown M&M's lollipop stick Dip the cookie in the melted candy melts. Add eyes. Insert stick (if you pre-insert stick it will break apart when you dip...trust me I tried...a lot). Smooth with your finger. Set off to dry on wax paper. Put left over melted candy melts in piping bag and drizzle over the cookie to give the impression of bandages.   … [Read more...]

Battle of the butter….

As some of you may know there has been recent war ragging among Paula Deen and Anthony Bourdain. Let me be the first to tell you that I like them both equally. I enjoy the show No Reservations, but will gladly say that I won’t be willingly (you just never know what you get at those taco trucks sometimes) eat fish balls or guniea pig intestines. I enjoy his enthusiasm of the countries he visits and his sincere interest in both the food and culture. But I also like me some Paula Deen. People often call me the Paula Deen of food blogging because I can take something bad for you and make it worse. :P I will agree with Anthony on the fact that the majority of Paula’s cooking isn’t all that healthy. But then again neither is spending most of your 20’s and 30’s doing cocaine and still drinking heavily and smoking heavily. I’ve made many a thing by Paula Deen, mostly desserts I will admit, because I appreciate her love of butter. And they have all turned out well so to say that … [Read more...]

All cracked up….

“Did you make bacon?” This was said not really as a question but more of an accusation by my bff. As in did you make bacon and I didn’t get any how dare you. How. Dare. You. But no bacon was in sight (and not because it was in my belly). I stood there rolling out crackers as he kind of sniffed around like a basset hound (apparently a hound with a cold since his smell was off). He finally did break down and ask what I was making, and I said crackers. I got the no that’s not what I smell look from him but I followed up smoked cheese crackers…and the little light bulb went off. Trader Joe’s makes a blend of shredded smoked cheese that has a blend of smoked cheddar, Gouda, provolone, and mozzarella. It’s good stuff. Had seen on my time suck aka Pinterest people had made their own Gold Fish crackers and decided to give it a go with the cheese I had. These would have turned out much better if I wasn’t in such a rush. :) We had great baking weather on Monday but I had … [Read more...]
