Coming up…

So I’m a little in denial about how quickly the holidays are coming upon us. Less than two weeks and Thanksgiving will be happening and then the blur begins. I’m still trying to figure out where the tree is going to go in the house. And then there is the whole looming idea of dragging all the holiday stuff out. Don’t get me wrong I love it but the unpacking and packing up of it all is no fun. The other thing I have to start thinking about is holiday baking. While most people do it in December, us food bloggers have to pretty much be doing it now…so that you all have ideas for when you want to bake. Heck when I used to do magazine work I would have to have my holiday stuff done in August! I braved Wal-Mart the other day…and yes brave is the correct word. I know some people love that store…I am not one of those people (like the prices the people scare the crap out of me). I went in search of the Gingerbread Oreo and Peppermint Marshmallows. Which I found both at. Which … [Read more...]

Pinning…

So these were made last year so we aren’t really going that far back. But I thought I would feature them again as they are literally the number one source of traffic from Pinterest right now, with many people coming back and telling me how yummy they are. I recommend these cookies for cookie exchange big time. Not everyone likes gingerbread flavors, but those who do will thank you greatly for making these. I do have to say that I am in awe that this little cookie is the thing that currently people are coming to my site to see. I mean they are good, don’t get me wrong but of all the things on my site, I am thoroughly amused that this is what is getting the most traffic. :) For which I am extremely thankful for though. I have quite a few new readers to the blog thanks to Pinterest, not to mention a ton of ideas for myself! White Chocolate topped Gingerbread Cookies 3 cups flour 2 tsp. Ginger, Ground 1 tsp. Cinnamon, Ground 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg, Ground (I used … [Read more...]

Trying my patience…

I realize that I am supposed to be extra nice and patient during the holiday season but one thing that drives me crazy is when parents let their little kids try and do something over and over. And when the kids fails at it, do they do it, no, they continue to let the kid fail at it. EDIT* Apparently I have upset a few people  not let their kids fail. Of course let your kids fail. That's how they learn BUT below are examples of when you probably shouldn't be testing that out. I have two instances this week alone. Number one while at Target the mom was having her little girl put in her pin number to the machine. Number one, not a smart idea to be shouting out repeatedly your pin number to your debt card and number two after the 5th failed attempt it’s best to move on. The line continued to form behind. After I kid you not the 11th time of messing it up the Target check out girl just got frustrated and ran the card as a credit card. To which the woman was highly upset and asked to … [Read more...]

You can’t catch me…

I love all things gingerbread men. My advent calendar (the building in the background) is a gingerbread house. I have gingerbread men spatulas, rugs, tea towels, plates, spoon rests, mugs, salt shakers, lights, etc…I love me some gingerbread men. They just make me smile. So when I stumbled across gingerbread marshmallows in the shape of gingerbread men I was sold. I quickly grabbed two bags…should have grabbed more! I made these for the hockey boys. In what appeared to be a compliment but also an insult in my opinion over and over I heard “wow, these are actually good”. Gee thanks? I mean I get that they were a little out there and not everyone enjoys the flavor of gingerbread but I don’t usually serve them stuff that tastes like crap so I had to laugh that everyone was so surprised they were good. So good the whole bag was gone at the end of the night. If you are a gingerbread fan, these are definitely a great treat to make. I was a little sad to watch the gingerbread … [Read more...]
