Boo-riffic….

I once worked for a principal who had a habit of making up words. The general consensus was that she was trying to sound smarter than she was. The students mock her behind her back…and yes, even the staff did. So much so that we made Bingo cards that we would use in the staff meetings. Try not to judge too much it helped pass the time. Plus the winner got free drinks at Happy Hour on pay day Fridays. :) So when I was making this cake all I could think of was the word Boo-riffic. Which of course is not a word but it is to me. And well it’s my blog and now that I have a print button I can do whatever I want. Because print buttons give you and excuse to rule the blog world…to be the best blog!!! Anyway… I’ve made these little meringue ghosts pretty much every Halloween but this time I decided I needed to put them on top of a cake. Staring at my bag of peanut butter cups I decided that I needed to make a buttercream frosting out of them. And this cake was born. The ghost come … [Read more...]

What’s on the inside…

Hello All, Happy Monday! Here’s what is going on in my life. 1. Made Mummy Pops using Oreos. 2. Shot corn out of a cannon...strangely exciting. 3. Watched the unrated version of Bad Teacher. Love that movie…though I must say I think you have had to teach junior high to fully appreciate it. 4. Tortured dog with constantly putting on her banana costume. 5. Played tic-tac-toe at Red Robin…where they gave us no red crayons and that seemed odd to us. 6. Played Gummy Bear Wii Mini Golf and lost badly. I need my mom to come for a visit as she always sucks worse at video games than me and makes me feel better about myself. :P 7. Picked out pumpkins and gourds. Some will be carved, some wont. The carved one is getting the Flames logo put on it. 8. The Cozi app is very helpful…especially the grocery list and color coded dots…oh and the email reminders. 9. Go Girl Lemon Drop is now my new Energy Drink Vice. 10. Can’t get the song Pumped Up Kicks by … [Read more...]

All tied up…

These were too cute not to make. Though they are harder than they look. It's messy and the cookie likes to separate. But I was determined darn it all. They would be a fun addition to any Halloween party. Or if you just have a mummy fetish.   Oreo Mummy Pops Golden Double Stuff Oreos White Candy Melts Brown M&M's lollipop stick Dip the cookie in the melted candy melts. Add eyes. Insert stick (if you pre-insert stick it will break apart when you dip...trust me I tried...a lot). Smooth with your finger. Set off to dry on wax paper. Put left over melted candy melts in piping bag and drizzle over the cookie to give the impression of bandages.   … [Read more...]

Halloween Family Fun with McCormick…

October is here and I have some kid friendly recipes to help your family celebrate the upcoming Halloween season all thanks to McCormick. I’m highlighting two recipes that you can make with your kids. One that is a little “younger” kid friendly (the Pumpkin Sugar Cookies) and one for your older kids to have fun with (Ghostly Halloween Cupcakes). I was excited to learn that McCormick® makes a black food coloring. In the past whenever I have tried black food coloring it always came out a weird purple color, but as you can clearly see from my cupcakes, their black food coloring is indeed black! That’s a rare and cool find. And if you don’t need black food coloring, McCormick® also has Assorted Food Colors that can be combined to come up with just about any color combination to make your Halloween treats more colorful and festive! I combined their yellow and red food coloring to make orange a vivid orange for the pumpkin cookies. I used cookie and cake mix to make it … [Read more...]
