You go away for a few days and…

As many of you figured out I was gone on a little mini vacation for a couple of days. I was asked by Harry and David if I wanted to fly out and see what they do there and decided that sounded like a great idea. I won’t go into the details in this post but I will tell you it was an amazing company with really good, genuine people working there who know how to show food bloggers a good time! What I was a little surprised about was coming home to read a comment (and a couple emails) about if my blog was going to be just me posting random pictures they never would have voted for me for the home farm contest as that was to run my blog. I’m still running my blog. Posting photos is still running the blog. I was just trying to show you what I was doing. I haven’t been on vacation other than to Arkansas last year (and no offense to Arkansas but it’s not vacation destination in my opinion) in 7 years. So sorry to those few who were put out by me getting to go away for a few days. … [Read more...]

Striking a chord…

When I was going through my divorce I could have sworn that Sirius radio was out to get me. It seemed like every time I got into the car they were playing Third Eye Blind’s song “How’s It Gonna Be”. And stupid me would always listen to it and then proceed to bawl my eyes out. Now of course if that song was on the radio a year before my divorce I would have cared less, other than to go, oh I love that song and listen to it. But because I was going through something it struck a chord and would upset me. Which is often what this blog does to people, it strikes chord. I can assure you if you are a long time reader at some point I am going to strike a chord with you…it’s inevitable. I can’t tell you how many times friends or acquaintances email or call me to ask if my latest post was about them? It usually isn’t. But what it does show is that they are usually guilty about something. Guilty about lying and how they live their life. Guilty about spending money they don’t … [Read more...]

Identity crisis…

The other day on Live Journal (no this blog is not on that…it’s my own personal thing) my friends were doing some sort of say what you admire/like about the other person. I get the two same responses in just different forms from everyone, at least I am consistent. One is that they admire my ability to find humor in almost anything even in the toughest of situations and the wit that comes from my mouth about those situations. The second is the ever popular about how sure I am of myself. I am without a doubt sure of myself. But I would like to point out that doesn’t mean I’m stuck up. Liking who you are as a person often freaks people out. Speaking your mind also seems to freak people out, especially those who build their lives up with so many lies they can’t possibly think about telling the truth. So you make them nervous especially if you know their lies. It also doesn’t mean that I go around thinking I am hot. I pass the mirror on more than one occasion thinking, oh my … [Read more...]

Que sera, sera…

I know we have all gotten used to me posting a lot and well that’s sadly going to have to stop, at least for the month of May. I would love to say it’s because I am busy and don’t have time but the truth is I’m pretty darn broke. And to make matters worse, the last of my money was stolen out of the locker room at my hockey game Friday night. And my ads just aren’t paying right now; I am averaging less than $2 a day, which doesn’t add up when it cost about $150 a month to run the blog (the vast majority of that being the cost of food). And then there are my medical bills that apparently they want me to pay. I’ll still be updating my home farm and maybe a random post or two but don’t hold out. I leave you with these cookies. Since I am a key lime lover and I we did just have Cinco De Mayo, I thought I would do a twist on Mexican Wedding Cakes. You can still keep up with me on Twitter and Facebook, just not sure how much on here. :( Peabody Key Lime Mexican … [Read more...]
