Mint to be….

Crazy thing happened on Friday. I got up early to go to an appointment and did my usual checking of the email, FB, Twitter, etc. and then headed out. Upon returning I did the same. But when I glanced at my FB I noticed over where it had my page it said 20+. I thought what the??? I figured I was being spammed to death and so I went and looked over. Low and behold I had gained 400 plus followers. Ummm, that never happens. Well it does but not in a few hours time. So I asked where did you all come from? Some were funny and said their parents, which I appreciated the sarcasm. But most told me that Reese’s had posted my famous (it’s the most pinned thing I have made) Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Torte and people had come over from that! So I made an all things peanut butter board on Pinterest for the occasion and plan on making a few peanut butter treats this week on the blog. So welcome new peeps! St. Patrick’s Day is next week. I had Crème de Mente sitting around because of a … [Read more...]

Way Back Wednesdays…start thinking cookie exchange

While most of you are running around in a frenzy trying to get your meal ready for tomorrow I thought I would quickly highlight one of my favorite holiday (and non-holiday) cookies from the past for Way Back Wednesday. They are kind of like brownies in cookie form with Andes mints swirled into them at the top. Sooo good. While you are focused on Thanksgiving, many of you probably have a Cookie Exchange on the horizon… I have two! I highly recommend these. I would make them but I’ve already done them time and again…but then again they are always a hit. Why change what isn’t broken? :) Andes Chocolate Mint Cookies 3/4 cup butter 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons water 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips 2 large eggs 2 1/2 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda Andes mints candies, broken in half Heat oven to 350°F. Over low heat, combine butter, sugar and water. Heat until melted and add chocolate chips until partly … [Read more...]

I’m one step away from afternoon Bingo…

I’m more than half way to old, and I don’t just mean in age. There is a trend I have noticed as my parents have gotten into their so called golden years. They talk about five things: People dying, what they ate, what hurts/doctor visits, the weather, and how much stuff costs. Crap I am old. Other than constantly talking about people dying…I’m there. What the heck will I have to talk about when I am actually old? This is bad. At least I don’t really delve into the people dying thing all that much. I mean I get why they do because they are at the age where people are dying. When someone my age dies we freak out a little more because it doesn’t happen as much. But the conversation with my mother is always the same: Mom: So and So died yesterday, it’s so sad. Me: Who? Mom: You know so and so. Me: No mom I do not know so and so. Mom: Yes you do. She’s so and so’s neighbor. Me: Oh, yeah… No mom. I don’t live in your town remember? Mom: Don’t be sassy with … [Read more...]

The life of P…

The good: I came from barely making it into my Fantasy Hockey Playoffs to winning the whole darn thing. Which may or may not involve winning some money. Sadly I won’t be doing anything fun with the money, unless paying medical bills is fun. Go Bow Legged Swamp Chickens! The bummer was I had to beat my really good guy friend in order to make it to the finals, but he was nice and said if he couldn’t win he was glad I did. Ah, that’s nice…thanks S, you’re awesome. My hockey team got a sponsor and will be getting new jerseys come this Fall/Winter season! No more pagan sheep for us. Even better it’s going to be sponsored by a local brewery. Which if you live in the Seattle area try and get your hands on some Odin Brewing Company beer. You can check out where to get it here. And to make them even more awesome…they make a bacon beer. Um yeah you know that is beyond awesome. I appear through obsessive vacuuming and cleaning to have rid my place of carpet beetles. I every … [Read more...]
