Common Denominator…

Well since we all love the random posts here we go. *Being a former math teacher I am going to give a little math lesson on here today (don’t panic…it’s not real math). Today’s Math Lesson: Common Denominator. If you get along with almost no one and the people that you have problems with only have problems with you and no one else. Guess what? The common denominator is YOU. Not the other people. *The winners of the Frontera Margarita and Guac books are Carrie who said “I love a good margarita (I even have a shirt that has margaritas on it!) but a rum and coke also hits the spot too. And my fiance likes to mix Calpico and Korean soju, which is a vast improvement on soju’s rubbing-alcohol flavor.” Yes, you can’t go wrong with Rum and Coke…you can do wrong things after Rum and Coke though. :P And Julie who “hope to ruin as many miserable lives as you some day. Attention Wal-Mart Shoppers…

Dear Shoppers of Wal-Mart- Washington State adopted a new law as of June 1st that allows certain establishments, Wal-Mart included to sell hard liquor. This however comes with a large tax. This tax was discussed in detail. And while the tax went up it seems to be costing me about the same as when I went to the liquor store except now I can buy vodka after 7pm at night without having to go driving all around. There is even a sign that tells you about the tax. So please do not freak out on the cashier who has nothing to do with the tax. Neither does the manager that you demanded to see. This doesn’t make it become any cheaper. You either want your vodka or you don’t. And from the looks of you…you did want your vodka…at 10:30am. By the time I got to the poor cashier she was yelled at by all three people in front of me. I don’t think she had ever been happier to see someone just buying oven cleaner. Food is not the enemy…

While on Facebook (my personal page) someone was talking about should they make cookies or not and I of course said go for it. She is going through her weight loss journey (she is doing fantastic) and all the people piped up that she would be ruining all her hard work. It’s a cookie people. A cookie. I suggested to her something that I did when I was on WW and worked for WW which was to make ice box cookies. Slice off two cookies and put the dough in the freezer….really does help with portion control. You can get to a point in your weight loss where you become obsessed. To this day without thinking I know the exact amount of jelly beans, pretzel sticks, etc I ate just out of old habit. I always stop at 35 Jelly Bellys because that was how many you got. And I can tell you how many WW points almost anything is (on the old plan mind you). But that was my life. Panic if I couldn’t get to the gym that day. Hating myself for going over in my points. I only run when being chased…

Sunday my personal Facebook page was filled with many, many people I know running the St. Patty’s Day Dash. Recently there has been a resurge in my friends wanting to run in 5 or 10K’s with even a few venturing out into the marathon world. There are two types of people in my life who are runners: My friends who ran in junior high and high school and have always been runners (these people I can deal with), and then those who seemed to be having some sort of crisis in their life and they decide it will be awesome to run a 5K, then a 10K and so on. The second half of people are annoying. Really annoying. Now before you say have you ever done it…yep, been there, done that, hated that, got the t-shirt, and the free crap they give you in the bag afterwards…oh and the orange slices. I have just over twenty 5K’s in my repertoire and three 10K’s (truly stupid). And yes for the record, I was going through crisis; a break up with a boy that I thought for sure would be the one.
