Mr. and Mrs….

OreoWeddingCake5

So yeah, in case you didn’t catch on to the picture of my ring MDP and I are getting married! Which is another reason I am working on wedding cakes as I will be making my own this time around (yikes). I’ll just make sure we have a very rustic theme so that the cake will fit right in. And if we get everyone at the wedding to lean (I guess we will serve a lot of alcohol) in the photos no one will notice if the cake leans. :P For those of you who follow me on Pinterest this should come of no surprise that I am getting married. Which if you love the joy that is wedding planning you can follow along and play the Peabody/MDP wedding game at home. :) I will tell you that it will be very laid back but lovely all the same. MDP didn’t get a real wedding his first go around and so he/we want to make sure our friends get to gather around and share our happiness. You my readers have been through it all with me. So many of you write me such wonderful emails (and sometimes crazy ones too … [Read more...]

She had the best abs ever, she will be missed…

“Are you happy with your life?” “Are you in the best shape you want to be?” While sitting waiting for allergy shots (you have to sit around for 30 minutes after you get them waiting to see if there is a reaction) these two questions were posed to me by the very “fit” woman next to me (I’m sure she has six pack abs which she can keep by the way). I turned to her and said “excuse me?” and could feel the sales pitch coming on. She went on to tell me how she was a life coach and wondered if I felt I could use her services. First off don’t get me started on life coaches. There is no qualification to be a life coach…though I am sure nowadays there is an online degree for it somewhere. She didn’t seem to accept my answer that yes I was happy with my life and that while I was not in the best shape I wanted to be I was in the best shape of where I could be today. She piped in with surely there were things I wanted to change and I said of course. But that for right … [Read more...]

All tied up…

These were too cute not to make. Though they are harder than they look. It's messy and the cookie likes to separate. But I was determined darn it all. They would be a fun addition to any Halloween party. Or if you just have a mummy fetish.   Oreo Mummy Pops Golden Double Stuff Oreos White Candy Melts Brown M&M's lollipop stick Dip the cookie in the melted candy melts. Add eyes. Insert stick (if you pre-insert stick it will break apart when you dip...trust me I tried...a lot). Smooth with your finger. Set off to dry on wax paper. Put left over melted candy melts in piping bag and drizzle over the cookie to give the impression of bandages.   … [Read more...]

Pumpkin meet Oreo, Oreo meet pumpkin…

Been very uninspired in the creativity department as of late so I asked Facebook readers what they thought I should make. Someone asked for a Pumpkin Coffee Cake but with Oreos. Umm, okay. She was very excited to be selected. I’m sure it was a disappointment that there was not prize or anything. Hopefully this is what she was looking for. I was going to glaze it but really couldn’t figure out what to glaze it with. Plus I wanted it to be more like a portable snack cake, which it is. No time for a real post sorry. I hope to get a lot of baking down this weekend and will attempt to make it up to you. Pumpkin Oreo Coffee Cake For Oreo batter: 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature 3 eggs 3/4 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 20 crushed Oreo cookies 1 cup sour cream 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder Pinch of salt For pumpkin batter: 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground … [Read more...]
