Trouble with the Curve…

I watched Trouble with the Curve on Christmas night while snuggled up eating Chinese food (which was surprisingly a little too hard to find a place that was open)and of course all that ran through my head was the part in Christmas Story where they sing farararara-rararara. :D I liked the movie though the part with Clint Eastwood going blind makes me nervous and worry about my parents getting older. The part we will concentrate on though is how his lawyer daughter while good at her job realized baseball is what was in her blood. I often watch shows like Triple D or other restaurant shows where they interview the owner and often they had a change of career. And more often than not it’s because their parents owned a restaurant when they were growing up. I learned about 10 years ago that while I enjoyed teaching in some aspects (the kids and inspiring part) it was really cooking/baking that I wanted to do with my life. I knew I didn’t really want to own a restaurant though tons of … [Read more...]

In too deep…

I put my mind somewhere and apparently can’t find it. See I went to cookie exchange today, the same one I go to every year. We also do an ornament exchange on that one as well (I got a cute penguin one of the exchange). And I exchange gifts with someone there as well. Plus my friend J got me the cutest little ornament that has gingerbread cookies on a baking sheet (very me). My point being there was a lot in my hands when I left. So much so that when I was pretty much all the way home (I do not live close by) I realized that I forgot my cookie tray there. I figured I have another cookie exchange on Saturday and the hostess of this exchange is going to that one as well (we like our cookies). But then the hostess called me while I was driving home. I was about to say I know I left my tray when she uttered very sad news…yes, I had left my tray…and ALL of my exchange cookies as well. AHHHHH. That pretty much sucks broken Christmas bulbs. So to cheer my cookie-less self up I … [Read more...]

Minty fresh…

I would love to say that I can’t believe the calendar will read December tomorrow and that we are just one month shy of yet another new year, but I do believe it. The older I get the quicker the months just seem to go. I blinked and November was gone. So I want to take this opportunity on this last day of the thankful month to say thanks for being a reader. You really have to like my site to read it. I don’t do giveaways (don’t get me wrong I would love to have the money to give away a mixer, crock pot, or a camera) so you are just here for the food. :) If it weren’t for you the only readers I would have would be family members that I would guilt into reading it and a few former teacher friends. :P But no use fighting it, tomorrow is December. I’m ready this year. Last year at this time I didn’t have an ounce of Christmas spirit (if you know me, this is highly unusual), I only put up decorations because my parents were coming out. But this year, the tree is up and the … [Read more...]

Just around the corner…Way Back Wednesday

As much as I try and fight it I am in the Holiday mood already. Not sure why. Last year it took everything in me just to put the tree up let alone put out any other decorations. But this year I can’t seem to wait. I’ve already been sneaking in a little upbeat holiday music to my workout playlist. :) Though will admit that it’s a little too early to get your photo taken with Santa…but he was there at the mall already the other day! Don’t they know he doesn’t come until after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (as a kid that’s how I knew Santa was on the job)? Now, I’m not quite as gung ho as some people. I have about a handful of friends who are already completely done with shopping this year. Maybe it’s the foodie in me but I haven’t thought about gifts, just cookies and foods I plan to make. I have two cookie exchanges to go to so far and I have a rep to protect. :D One cookie that is always a hit is this Peppermint Bark Shortbread that I made back in … [Read more...]
