Spike up your Holidays…

So we are down to the wire. For me Christmas is tomorrow night. So tonight is our Christmas Eve. One thing I have started to go to is hot chocolate in a crock pot. No hot chocolate is not hard to make but it’s nice to have it being kept warm in the crock pot all day and just being available when the cocoa mood strikes…and this time of year it strikes often. Just set out a few types of hot chocolate and keep some frozen whipped cream circles in the freezer and you are good to go. I was sent Holiday Slow Cooker: A Year of Hassle-Free Celebrations and while it’s not a Christmas book (it’s holidays throughout the year) I did go searching for Christmas type recipes. Found a Bailey’s cocoa recipe and decided to make it with Peppermint Schnapps since I am a peppermint cocoa kind of gal. Of course the booze is added later and so the cocoa is for everyone. And you can add just about any booze you want…and depending on what relatives show you might be drinking a lot and I mean A … [Read more...]

Harry and David Giveaway and Peppermint S’moreO’s…

So not only do you get an over the top recipe today I am doing something I rarely do…a giveaway. A pretty yummy one at that. As anyone who follows this blog knows I don’t do these very often as I have to believe in the company or product. So when Harry and David offered up a gift basket to give away to a reader I jumped at the chance! I love them and their products!!! The hard part was picking which basket…you see what ever basket I picked for myself was the basket I get to give away. I looked and looked. And while I do love their pears this is the holiday season and I am a sucker for any and all things peppermint. I HAD to go with the Peppermint Glacier Tin Gift Basket. What comes in that? Peppermint Moose Munch Snack (10 oz.) (inhaled) Yogurt-dipped Pretzels with peppermint stringing (6 oz.) (also inhaled) 3 Chocolate Peppermint Petits Fours enrobed in Dark Chocolate with red stringing (0.5 oz. each) Peppermint Truffles (12 oz.) 2 Peppermint Frosted Chocolate … [Read more...]

I want S’more mint…

I’ve gotten a slew of emails as of late as people seem to be under the impression that my life is exciting. I can assure you it is not. :) But I figured I would go ahead and answer the most asked questions. #1: What does MDP do for a living? He is an electrician…very good with his hands ;) (bad I know but come on…had to go there). #2: How’s the foot? The foot is pretty good though for the first time in forever (ironically the day I was “cleared” to play hockey…yes I have been playing for 5 weeks already) it started hurting. But other than that it’s been pretty good. #3: What do you want for Christmas? I really don’t know actually. I am in love with this idea but it’s highly impractical for a stuffed animal. I wouldn’t mind Sorrel Joan of Artic Boots in gray even though I already own a pair of Sorrels. They are just a great boot I guess you can’t own too many water proof super warm boots when you live where I do. #4: Does MDP get along with his ex as … [Read more...]

Size matters…

It has been a chilly one as of late. Which normally I love though watching MDP’s poor step son out playing goalie on grass that was still covered in frost was kind of sad….and he has an even earlier game next week. Yikes. Those kids all looked so cold. And while they get fruit snacks and cookies after the game we should probably be pumping hot chocolate into them. Growing up (and well as an adult now) I was one of those that loved the marshmallows and the whipped cream far more than the actual hot chocolate itself. I always keep refilling my marshmallows or whipped cream as the cocoa cup would dwindle. That’s the best part. Why not just eat a handful of marshmallows? Because it’s not the same and you know it. :) Since I am pro marshmallow I figured for my first batch of marshmallows for the season (I make them all winter long) I would go BIG and peppermint since I really kind of want it to be Christmas already (don’t shoot me). Marshmallows at home scare people. If you … [Read more...]
