A little something for my readers….

A twist on red velvet

So while I do get lovely email asking about my sex life, the number one question that come via email is do you have an easier way to print your recipes? And before the answer was always no. The other question is do you have a newsletter I can subscribe to? That answer remains no. I seriously have enough trouble figuring out what to put on this blog let alone come up with a newsletter, which would be called Baking from a Crappy Apartment Kitchen. :) Which is what I would like the title of my Food Network show to be. ;) But in all seriousness you will all be excited to learn that thanks to RECIpage you can now print my recipes. Well right now 22 of them. But eventually all of them once the arm is feeling better to sit at a computer and put them all in. And you can Pin them…there’s a button. You can Tweet them…there’s a button. And you can Facebook them…there’s a button. Lots of options (email, text!). But the most important being the ability to print them. If you look … [Read more...]

Closure…

Some of you who are read my blog are fellow food bloggers but most of you are not. So many of you probably never heard that this week one of our fellow food bloggers lost her husband suddenly and without warning to a heart attack. She wrote an endearing post about him and how she is working on figuring out a new normal, she has to. As part of her healing process she is making a peanut butter pie. One that she had planned on making for her husband but never got around to, and Jennie is asking us to make a peanut butter pie for the ones you love in your life. Death is never easy. I think for closure reasons the goodbye is very important. I think for Jennie … [Read more...]

The worlds biggest time suck…

Just when I thought there couldn’t possibly be another time suck, enter Pinterest. You probably thought I was going to say Google Plus but I just don’t see the point of that yet. Anyway, if you don’t know this site, don’t go. It will suck you in like quicksand. Lucky for me they have an app and I can waste my time at the doctor’s office. It’s filled with photos of things you will never own, places you will never go to, phrases far wittier than you could ever come up with, clothing you could never afford, half naked photos of Ryan Reynolds (which is nice) and Adam Levine (also nice), cakes I will never get around to making, and all around interesting finds. While having my time sucked away, I ran across an inside out carrot cake muffin where the cream cheese frosting was on the inside! Brilliant and way more portable for lunches and what not. Not wanting to copy it completely I decided that I needed to embrace the concept but change it. What cake do I love most with cream … [Read more...]

Red, White, and…nope, that’s it….

Well I definitely got a variety of questions that is for sure but we will start with this one: “When blogging, have you ever put something there that you later regret? You seem so forward which makes you awesome to read but do the people in your life feel the same?” No. I have no regrets. I am who I am. And if you really go through and read my blog no one is mentioned by name other than me. Even my pets, which sadly answers the question to the person who asked as to what is my dogs real name. Sorry, I don’t do any real names on here…pets included. People either get a nickname or just “someone I know”. I tell stories sometimes about my parents but nothing too bad. And though I have two brothers they are hardly mentioned on here, and my nieces and nephews are off limits. They didn’t put themselves off limits I did. Many of the stories that are told on here, the person is asked ahead of time if it’s okay. Interestingly enough most of my friends volunteer info … [Read more...]
