Ninja like….

I never thought I wanted a slow cooker as that was the lazy cooks way out (ha!) but one day my mother asked me if I wanted one. I said okay I guess picturing myself using it to heat meatballs and little Smokies for parties. Little did I know I would make about half my meals in one now! So back in August when I went to the International Food Bloggers Conference in Portland they had this luncheon that was sponsored by Ninja. I wasn’t even really going to go until I caught wind that they were going to give away a Ninja Cooking System (they said like a slow cooker). So I figured go see what it was about and watched in awe at all the things they said it could do. What can it do? Slow Cooking. You can use this like a regular slow cooker with low, medium and high options and a digital timer. Stove Top. Use the Ninja like a regular stove top with a low, medium or high setting. Great option for searing meats before slow cooking them. Which is what I did for this recipe!!! Oven. … [Read more...]

I’m voting for cornbread….

pumpkincornbread2

It’s Election night. Hopefully if you live in the US you exercised your right to vote. I basically voted in a manner that is the complete opposite of my parents. :) I’m sure they are wondering where they went wrong. These muffins were made to go alongside some Chorizo Chili (yes you will be getting that recipe later this week) and they complement the chili nicely. Or so I am told. Since technically I am allergic to the chili and the muffins. Sigh. And while some food allergies I fudge on a little (cow dairy) peppers are not one that I can mess around with. Well I can I just have to stab myself with an epi pen as my throat closes shut. I would like to say that all of you out there threatening to move to Canada if you don’t like the election results don’t do it. We don’t want you. Stay where you are. Work on making the world and country a better place…not fleeing from it.   … [Read more...]

On a roll…

Just a reminder still have THREE people who have not claimed their prizes!! Go back and look please! And speaking of prizes make sure to leave a comment and enter for the Amazon.com gift card. Even if you don’t want the prize you can participate in the job question. I am loving the answers they are so interesting! This here is a little deviation from all the sweet treats that are usually on here. Though these do use homemade brioche buns (feel free to buy some) which is baking! I love lobster rolls but they get a little pricey especially when feeding more than one person. So I found that shrimp rolls can satisfy my craving for them especially when you throw in bacon and some avocado to the mix as well. Sadly our avocado that we took with us to the beach was less than appetizing and so it got tossed out but these were yummy all the same! Everyone ate and loved them…even the pup. :) I usually put a little diced celery in mine as well but some of the people eating the rolls were … [Read more...]

Lost but found…

I’m posting this recipe because I keep losing this recipe. :) I figure if I put it on the blog I can at least search for it on here. It’s basically French Onion Soup except that there are pieces of steak in it. It’s one of my favorites, the photo does not do it justice. It’s really best to let it sit around for a day before you enjoy it. If you don’t I highly doubt that the soup police will come visiting…but they might, it could be a slow time for them. Wanted to show you my cute new business cards that Moo offered up to me. I had been using Moo cards before and knew that I like them so when they asked me if I would like to try some of their newer stuff on them I thought that sounded like a good idea. Clearly you can see how spoiled my dog is. So thanks to Moo I now have cards in time for BlogHer Food in the coming months. And lastly if you live in the Seattle area and have seen the Swedish Fish Eggs please tell me where you have seen them. I love them and only found … [Read more...]
